We have received several letters demanding payment for A MCI Communications account which we never used, owned or had signed up for. On a daily basics one of their reps has called our home harassing us for payment on this account. We have caller ID on on phone service, but when Midlands rep call it only shows up Unknown caller and Unknown or Private number.

I spoke with someone who said he was a mange of Midland in San Diego, which apparently they have a office(or PO Box), and this guy told me my husband HAD to pay for this account, but they would gladly gives us a discount and settle on a lower amount of what is due on the original MCI account. I asked this manager for the detail list of phone calls that were supposedly made from our home phone , but he told me he does not have this and no way he can get this info. But he would tell me the MCI account was used from 2000 up to March 2002.

In my opinion this is a pure out ripoff, If we did have an account from MCI, MCI would be sending letters to us for this amount which we have never received and according to my husband's recent credit report there is nothing on it for a MCI past due account.

I will not send money or pay for a debt which there is no proof that we had this, and Midland does not have this proof. They do not have any detail information about this account, and as I understand the Statue of Limitations of 7 years has for our state protects us lawfully.

Everone who has received a letter from Midland Credit needs to demand proof of this account and check with your state for the Statue of Limitations for debt.

I'd recommending pulling your credit reports in from all three of the credit bureaus. Junk debt firms have a sleazy tactic of posting fraudulent or re-aged old debt on your credit reports to bully you into paying them so they'll pull the negative info off. They can get away with this because the credit bureaus don't really care about the accuracy of what they report....you have to force them to make changes. As you can imagine, this can wreak havoc with your credit rating. Check out this site: http://www.budhibbs.com/debtcollectorpages/midland_credit_management.htm It they've done this to you, the following message boards provide good advise: (((redacted))) CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report.
