Its called damages from a frivolous lawsuit. This is worth money to you. Free money! As soon as you dispute the debt and demand validation, all collections activity must cease until such validation is provided. This includes lawsuits. However, since you already notified them that this "debt" is past SOL, they should know they cannot sue on it. If they do, that is the definition of FRIVOLOUS LAWSUIT! Go to FTC.gov and file an online report against them for the unethical / illegal collections activity. Have fun with these crackheads. Don't get mad, GET PAID!!

Even if this debt is yours, it is WAY past the statute of limitations and the seven year reporting cycle on credit reports. Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, it is your right to send them a "Cease Communications" letter. Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act they must stop collection activity. Send them a certified letter + return receipt stating: Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I am requesting written validation of this alleged debt and that said alleged debt is within the statute of limitations. Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Cease all verbal/phone contact with me. ======================================== DO NOT sign your name on this letter, they might pull off your signature and attach it to forged documents. Very Important*** If you are served papers about a court date from them, DO NOT under any circumstances whatsoever be a "no show" in court. These people like to play the "default judgment" game...where they file a bunch of lawsuits on ancient debt like yours and keep their fingers crossed that you don't show up on the appointed day in court. No show = default judgment for them and wage garnishment for you...even if this debt is not yours or if it's outside the statue of limitations. Be sure to send the debt validation request via certified mail + return receipt. This will come in handy in case they file one of these frivolous suits. Check out budhibbs.com for a lot of good info.
