Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My husband bought a transmission off MidWest auto Recycling for his 1998 Dodge Ram. They had a used transmission with only 45,000 miles for ONLY $740.00 that included shipping. It sounded too good to be true! The man said they didn't accept credit cards only checks...which I thought was strange. But we have been without a vehicle for so long now we needed this transmission.

We didn't have enough $ in our checking account, so we payed with a check from our Chase credit card. My husband noticed on his Chase account the check had been cashed so he tried to contact MidWest Auto Recycling to see how long it would be. He didn't know the exact web address so he googled:" mid west auto"...and the ripoff report showed up warning people not to buy from them! OH NO!

I called the company and asked why they had so many bad reports against them. He said, " You have us confused with Mid City Auto in Millwaukee, they got shut down and we never have associated with them." He told me I would get my transmission in 7-10 days I belived him because his website seem legitimate the company had 1800 #s and line extentions. I still wanted to research further.

I called Wisconsin's Better Business bureau and I talked to the representative who said "Yes Mid City Auto Salvage did get shut down, BUT MidWest Auto Recycling IS affliated with Mid City Auto and they just recently opened up in August 2006 and have already had 4 complaints!

The company aside, Justin if your engine is overheating that very likely has little to do with the engine itself, and more with the install job. Did your mechanic replace the water pump and give you your old one back in a bag? Same with Termostat? Did you have your radiator backflush and flow tested? If your mechanic didn't do that, he's piss poor and this probably isn't Midwest's fault. If he DID do that, I would be interested to see the cause of the overheat.

I previously stated that I was wrong and they gave me a tracking # and all. Which was true, but when the part arrived I drove 30 miles and my truck started to overheat. I had to get towed home. After I had already payed to get it installed. I called the company and demanded a refund! He told me he would send out a replacement with no warrant this time. After I payed my mechanic more money to take the junk one out and the new replacement back in..... My truck wouldn't go into overdrive! So know I have probably $ 2000.00 invested if not more and all of this headache in this truck and I still do not have a transmission that works! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! I am always going to check this site and the BBB before I buy anything I found on the internet.

this was fueled by the previous persons fraudulent complaint. the customer had sent us a check for a transmission. we sent it to them in six working days eventhough we told them that it would take 7-10 working days. We provided them with a tracking# of 78245566-2 from R and L carriers on 9-28-06. to show you the class of a person wrote this letter I am going to included the part of the e-mail that this person who complined sent us. YOUR A BIG PIECE OF S**T. UNTIL I GET MY MONEY BACK YOU ARE GONNA HEAR FROM ME BY PHONE AND BY MAIL EVERY FIN DAY. HERE IN MAINE WE DONT TAKE KINDLY TO SCAM ARTISTS.. There has been a mistake, we did purchase a transmission, but it has only been a couple days. If I do not get it within the next month or so i will follow up with an update, but until then I hope I get it. If I do receive the transmission like I was promised I will reply to all the complaints against MidWest Auto Recycling and let customers know it is a mix up between the real scam company "Mid City Auto" that got shut down. The owner of MidWest Auto Recycling gave me a tracking # for my transmission and said I should get it in 3 days..I hope he is right. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and an apology if he is right.
