Mike's Towing ripoff overcharged for services performed inflated rate per hour charges after agreed upon price Waconda Illinois
Mike's towing quoted my wife $85 per hour to move a screened-in porch.
This was obviously the first time they had moved a screened-in porch, but led us to believe it would be a "piece of cake".
They moved the porch and there was a great deal of damage to the unit. I was presented with a bill on my wife's behalf (unaware of the agreed upon charge).
I signed a bill for $125 per hour plus extra equipment charge of $200. This change in pricing, and additional charge was never discussed with me or my wife.
Also, they did not accurately charge the time involved. They charged for 4 hours when they took 3 1/2 hours.
After speaking with my wife and discovering she had been told $85 per hour and no talk of additional equipment charges, I tried to speak with Mike (the owner) to reconcile.
He basically said "too bad". When I asked him if he had ever spoken to my wife regarding these extra charges when he quoted the price, the phone went quiet, which told me he obviously had not.
We were "ripped off" and taken advantage of.
I would recommend to not do business with someone that makes up his own pricing as he goes and never discusses it with the customer until after the job is done (and the job was not done right or to our specification).
Mike's towing did not get the job done satisfactorily (a lot of damage done to the unit)and presented unauthorized charges well in excess of prices quoted.
