Just this morning I was reflecting on my life and where I am now vs. where I was over a decade ago and how much better it is today. I decided to search for the MMI and found this. smh.
A little over 10 years ago, I had maxed out credit cards, personal loans, bill collectors calling, etc.. I was over 70k in debit had little savings, and lived paycheck to paycheck. I was fearful that my life would end up in the poor house.
An acquaintance mentioned that they had read T Harv Eker’s book and attended the Millionaire Mind Intensive and said that it changed their life. While they wouldn’t tell me what happens at the event, they said "Please just go. And if you don’t like, leave."
Begrudgingly, I went, telling my wife that, while this was scheduled for the weekend, I was only going to go for Friday night. I just wanted to be able to say the person who referred me "yeah, I went and didn’t think it was for me."
Well, after Friday, I was so enthused that I knew I would stay the weekend. And I did.
Now, you have to expect that there is some hokey stuff that goes on and people are going to try to sell you something. (Apparently, the author of this review thinks that’s a "ripoff.") But, I didn’t feel the need to spend more than $100 on products offered. The majority of the time, like 90% of it, is fascinating.
This event was nothing short of transformational. It was the turning point in my life.
Today, I have no debt, I pay off my credit cards monthly, I have two very nice cars with no car payments, just a mortgage (at 2.99% - in the US there is a tax benefit to a mortgage) which I am on schedule to pay off early, etc. My net worth is now over $1M. I am on target to hit my financial goal of over $2M in the next six years.
A couple years ago, I lost my day job because my company was sold. We didn’t have to touch one penny of savings because of my alternate streams of income. That’s an awesome feeling -- to know that your life will go own if you don’t get that paycheck.
I plan to retire a 60. And because I have multiple streams of passive income, I will still "work." It just won’t be at a 9-5 job for "the man."
Our plan is to live part time in the Caribbean and spend summers near the kids.
So, what’s the beef that the reviewer has with the MMI? They tried to sell stuff to you? Ok, but that’s technically not a ripoff. If they sold you something that didn’t work, then it’s a ripoff. How open was your mind? How much time did you give it? I think it takes time – years – to realize the value of this event.
I didn’t realize it at the time, but the MMI was the turning point in my life. It’s only today, a decade later, that I see it for what it was. At the time, it seemed hokey: the $100, the arrow, the confession, etc.. But the real proof is in my accounts today!
That being said, the MMI is not for everyone and I am certain that it will not transform some people. My guess is that 50% or less of the people will leave the event unchanged. But, for those of you who truly do want to change -- people who have the desire, passion, commitment, and perseverance -- this may be what you’re looking for.
You will never know until you try it.
DISCLAIMER: I have nothing to do with the MMI or Eker. I am receiving no credit or compensation for this rebuttal. I am just a passionate and thankful participant.
