At the end of Aug I need to move to a new place.  I have a baby grand piano so I wanted to find a professional piano mover.  I did some research and called 3-4 good-reputation piano movers in the area and left voice messages. MMS Piano Mover is the first company to call back.  An African-American man called himself "Michael" cordially answered my questions and set a date with me.  He assured that they are professional piano movers with 100 thousand dollar insurance to cover accidents.  He even provided phone numbers where I can get reference information about their service.  He gave me a discount if the payment is in cash.

So I was very happy and in the next few days turned down the other movers.   Since the moving date is very important to me, I need to return the apartment key to the landlord at the end of that day, I went online to find customer reviews on the MMS movers.  I saw a report about no-show complaint on Ripoff Report site, it says that they claimed that they had a truck problem so couldn't provide the service, causing the customer a lot of stress and trouble.  I naively believed that it was truly an accident and was a one-time event.  But on the moving day, starting at 9AM, Michael politely called me saying that the movers are on their way.

Then, the drama began: at 10AM he called saying that their early morning job was delayed, the movers shall arrive at 11AM.  At 12PM I called him about the whereabouts, he vividly described that the piano of their morning job got stuck in the elevator.  The movers will arrive at 2PM.  Of course at 2PM nobody showed up.  I tried to call him and only got voice message. At 3PM he called that the movers were on their way. At 4PM he called saying that their truck broke down(what a coincidence!).  It was a transmission problem and the truck stalled on Rt 35.  He started complaining about how much that will cost him and how unfortunate that was for him! Then he offered to move my piano the next day, after they have finished other appointments(they also move furniture).

After a whole day's wait and stress, I finally realized that he has been lying to me from the very beginning!  These people also move furniture for cash, Aug is a busy month, they are overbooked but won't tell you, they try to keep customers with lies like piano-stuck-in-elevator and broken-trucks, without any guarantee on the completion of the service on time.  Now I am in big trouble with my landlord, who had rented the apartment out to a new tenant, who also had movers scheduled.

Luckily I found another piano moving company who could fit me in the next day, overlapping with the new tenant's move-in activities, paying an extra day of rent.  I want to report the MMS Piano movers to warn people, don't trust them.  If that Michael could lie about the moving date and his moving truck, he could lie about anything, including their 100 thousand dollar insurance and so-called references. They are certainly NOT professional piano movers.

I read reports like this all the time and normally take them for what they're worth. But this report strikes a nerve in me when I read "an african-american man" answered the phone. As if that makes a difference at all. I not only think the author of this report is a racist a*s$%&* but Rip-Off report should be ashamed of themselves for printing garbage like this. NUFF Said..Is that black enough for ya?
