Complaint Review: Monitronics International - Dallas Texas

Platinum Protection is an installing dealer for Monitronics. All accounts installed by them are monitored by Monitronics, as Platinum does not operate an alarm monitoring center. (Central Station in industry venacular) The contract is held by Platinum at first. But if the account is of good quality then Monitronics will buy the contract paper if Platinum wishes to sell it. The letter you received was to let you know that Monitronics was now in posession of the original contract. Which means that the 24 hour facility in now available to you for service and tech support. If not you would have to call your installer for service tech support only at the times they are open. If the contract was still owned by Platinum, then Monitronics would bill them instead and Platinum would then bill you. As for Alarm.com....
The system still sends signals to the same place it always has. Alarm.com is the same as AlarmNet or Uplink. They make cellular systems that work with many types of alarms. This is to keep systems going in a world with less and less landlines. These companies are paid by the central station to keep the SIM cards active. The cost is is passed on to the user through he monitoring company. All these companies do it take the signal through their cell network and forward it to a land-line to hit the monitoring center. They do not have a 24 hour call center answering the signals, all they do is process and forward signals. I guess if your contract had a choice of either Monitroncs or Alarm.com, this was to show if you were going to be sending signals through your land line (classic) or the cell unit (cell primary). Some contracts/systems use both land line and cell unit together for redundancy (cell backup). I guess it was kind of a misnomer. But your contract is your contract, the terms are the same no matter who owns it. The Alarm.coms are very nice units, I am saving up to buy my own, The way you can set it up to send email alerts and texts to your smart phone is very cool.

I had forgotten to include my homeowners certificate of Protection and realized I was paying for services that the equipment wasn't installed for?? like a smoke alarm.. so please check those certificates and make sure all the equipment that is listed on that certificate is indeed installed. send all documents! I have the Platinum contract in hand.. Category.. contracted Monitoring service Choices 1. Monitronics 2. Alarm.com Notation- only one selection is allowed. ALARM. com is chosen Verified by email that this was correct by Alarm.com employee Vincent Catucci. Also Not Alarm.com IS a monitoring service also and is licensed in many states. You are a current employee of Plat protect. Naughty, naughty

First of all, Alarm.com is not a monitoring company. They are a third party cellular company that allows you to have additional options for your alarm system. Second, it is clearly stated that your monitoring will be done through Monitronics Third, being a "trial lawyer" I would have figured you would have done some research or contract reading before agreeing to be installed.

I'm not sure about alarm.com, but Platinum Protection is a Monitronics dealer, who when you sign up with them, they sell the account to Monitronics, who does the monitoring on the system. This is a suggestion.
