Monro Muffler/Brake & Service Store #311 Rips you off/charges u labor after your car is fixed while they sit around/ tried charging 300 for labor to put rotors in - I put them in myself in 10 minutes!! don't go there EVER Manchester New Hampshire
I went in to have a state vehicle inspection done to my 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix. I have a very trusted mechanic that has been a friend of mine for 15 years he just relocated to a new shop and got rid of his old inspection equipment for new equipment that had not arrived yet so I could not take it to him for the inspection. Unfortunately Monro was the only place that was open until 7pm and I work until 4:30pm and do not get home until after 5pm and the new state inspections take at least 30-45 min to complete. This is not the 1st time monro in Manchester has tried to rip me off! I called several other shops that were booked up during the week I had to get the inspection done. My car was off the road because I came from Arizona and this is the first time I registered my car in NH so I only had so much time to get a sticker.
HERE IS THE COMPLAINT; most recent 3rd time
I went back at the time the store manager Paul told me to come and get my car I saw the mgr in the bay area loosening the bolts on my front left tire he then told me to follow him into the bay area and shook my tire back and forth telling me that I needed a front left wheel bearing before he could pass my inspection. I explained to him that my mechanic and I just replaced the brakes and the rotors on all four tires and replaced the front 2 wheel bearings (I know this because we did it together!) when my car was put back on the road a week ago. Paul tired telling me that the 2 wheel bearing and hub assembly would cost me over $800 dollars, which if you look it up at advanced auto parts the highest price for the Wheel bearing and hub assembly is $196.00 and the labor is about an hour or less.
Paul the Mgr called the police on me when I stated in front of his customers that he was trying to rip me off, he said I threatened him and in no way is saying your ripping me and other people off a threat. He tried belittling me in front of his customers telling me I know nothing about cars because I am a woman and I have no idea what I am talking about (even though I have a best friend who has been a mechanic for over 15 years and we work on my car together as stated above. Paul told me to leave the premises and never set foot back here again or else, so in reality Paul threatened me, the customer.
Paul the mgr never gave me a rejection sticker so I could have time to get my car fixed because he rejected my emissions test so incase I got pulled over I would be able to explain to the law enforcement officer that I have time to get it checked. I already know there is nothing wrong with the car but I don't want to get into trouble with the law because he refuses to do his job.
2nd time complaint; no where else to go!
Paul was harsh or tried to rip me off. I hit a huge pothole on my way home from work and there was a HUGE bubble on the side of my tire I was right next to Monro on my way home so I stopped there and asked if he could help, he rejected me and told me to leave and that he had no time for me when 3 bays were open and empty and it was only 5pm and the shop closes at 7pm and it was just 1 tire. I was stranded because he was too lazy to deal with me. I honestly think this is discrimination.
1st time complaint; my 1st time at Monro
What I thought were my brakes were squealing and making a crunching sound every time I made a stop. I took it into Monro to have them check it out the mechanics said I needed all new breaks and the cost would be over $500-$600 dollars plus labor, again because I'm a woman he thought he could rip me off so I called my friend the mechanic and he said I could go to an auto parts store and buy both front and rear brake pads and shoes for 119.98 and could be installed in about a half hour. Then they said my rotors were warped and tried to charge me another $300 added onto the breaks plus labor was going to be 3 hours. My friend said bring it down to his new shop and together we went and bought 2 front break pads and shoes and 2 rear break pads and shoes for 119.98 and he got a discount on the rotors and I got them for $50.00, he watched as he showed me how to do the breaks and rotors and I was done in 25 minutes!
Manchester, NH Monro is a rip off they charge you for outrageous parts and labor that only takes 20 minutes and goes to work on other vehicles so when you come back they say it took 2 hours to do the work to your vehicle and charge you $200 labor on top of the rip off prices they give you for parts that do not even need to be fixed in your car/truck.
