Moose Creek Hat Co. Steve and Carol Newby Fashion Scam, Sweatshop Hats, Ripoff, Rude Customer Service Moosecreek, Ontario
Steve and Carol Newby of Moose Creek Hat Co. did not leave me with a good impression.
My picked out a hat at their booth at the EX, within the Arts, Crafts and Hobbies building in Toronto. She wanted to pay for the hat by debit, and a young lady told her that would not be a problem. Suddenly, Carol Newby came out and said "CASH ONLY", despite the debit machine being on and working. Like my mother was wasting her time, my Mother said all I can do is debit, I need my cash, but Carol Newby said "CASH OR DON'T BUY IT".
My mother, polite, decided to buy the hat, and paid cash. Carol Newby flicked the hat at her and walked away. My mother, a senior citizen, said "excuse me, can you give me a bag please?", to which Carol Newby replied "NO." My mother said she needed a bag, because she was going to look at other booths in the building, and didn't want to carry the hat as-is. She didn't want other exhibitors to think she stole hat. Carol, failing to provide a receipt on top of it, told my mother to "GO GET A BAG AT ANOTHER BOOTH".
My mother is a patient woman, but had enough of this attitude and asked for he money back, but Carol Newby said "NO REFUNDS. CAN'T WEAR A HAT THEN ASK FOR MONEY." My mother said she just bought the hat 30 seconds ago, she didn't even put the hat on yet, she just tried it on before buying like every other potential customer had done who browsed her booth. Carol told my mother "NOT TO WASTE HER TIME" and walked away.
Another exhibitor, who witnessed the entire ordeal, came to my mother's aid and gave her a bag, disgusted at the behavior of Carol Newby's Moose Creek Hat Co.
