Complaint Review: Motor Maxx - Jacksonville Florida

My fiance and I both bought cars from this place. When they take you in the office, the first thing they do is ask you for your money down (or your car title) and they immediately take that and put it upstairs in a safe. THEN they start doing the paper work. The price they told you on the lot automatically jumps $2,000 when you sit down. They say this is because you are financing it, but you are also paying finance charges, so I don't understand why the price also goes up. They tell you that the vehicle has a 2 month warranty, but they do not want to FIX anything. They will patch it and rig it up so that it will make it until the 2 months is up, then you are stuck with a piece of junk that you still owe thousands of dollars for. They tell you that you have 2 weeks that you can come back and trade the car in for another one if you don't like it for any reason, but they will do EVERYTHING they can to NOT let you trade it once you have it!

My fiance had never bought a car from a lot before, so I went with him to the car lot. They showed him a car that was $4999. When we got inside, the first thing they did was ask him for the $1000 that he was putting down. He handed it to the man and he wrapped it in a piece of paper and said he would be right back. He came back down a few minutes later and started doing the paperwork. The first problem was that the price automatically went up $2000. We told him that was NOT the price he told us and he said they add $2000 if you are financing it. OK, we let that slide. Then they told him he would have to pay $500 for some sort of DMV fee. My fiance said you didn't tell me I had to pay all of this extra money. Just forget it, I don't want to do it, just give me my money back. The man said he couldn't get his money back that he had already put it in the safe and he could not get it out! By the time they were done, the car that was originally $4999 was now going to cost him $14,000!!!! We called the police and they said that it was a civil matter now and nothing they could do!

I had traded my car in on a car. The car that I got from them ended up being a lemon too. It needed a lot of mechanical work. My fiance and I both went back the very next day to trade the crap cars we had gotten for something better. We were at the car lot everyday for a week straight. EVERYTIME either of us found another car that we liked, they would raise the price of the car so that we would have to put more money down on it! I proved this one day by just walking around the lot. I asked the salesman the price of a car. He told me it was $6999, the same price mine had originally been. Then when I talked to Mike, the head man, he told me it was $8000. I said well the salesman told me it was $6999. He said, "Well, looks like he was wrong."  I went to the SAME salesman and asked him if he would check in the computer and see the price for me. He looked it up in the computer and it was $6999!!!  I said I wanted to trade mine in for it and he said ok. When it came time to do it, they all started acting weird and said that I would have to pay $1000 more down!!!  They all told me that Mike was like that and that they were sorry, but what good was a sorry doing me??? My fiance found a different car and was told that he could switch for that one, but that they were getting ready to close and for him to come the next day to do it. We left and came back the next day to make the swap and was told BY MIKE that someone had already put a deposit on the car that he was supposed to be trading for and he couldn't get it!!!

They ended up doing a trade for my fiance when Mike wasn't there. The salesman actually seemed scared that he was going to get in trouble from Mike for doing it, but he said he knew we were being done wrong and he was just going to do it anyway. I had to take my car in for repairs. It needed:  front struts, rear wheel bearings, blendor motor for the AC/Heating unit, service light reset, seatbelt repaired, back of seat fixed, door lock on drivers door fixed, back bumper was falling off and a few other minor things. I dropped my car off on a Tuesday night and went back to get it Wednesday night. I got up on Thursday morning to go to work and my car wouldn't steer!!! It was almost impossible to steer it! I had my fiance to follow me to the lot and I dropped the car off there. It took us forever to do that because I had to physically fight with the car to get it to turn. I was to leave for a trip to VA the following morning. The guy from the car lot sent me a text saying, "It might take a day or so to fix, but that I could drive it to VA with NO POWER STEERING because it was mostly highway and it was mostly straight or I could wait and not leave for VA until the following night!!!! 

This place is nothing but a bunch of scam artists and rip offs! Every time I have been there, the cops have been there because of someone. I asked the cops if they get tired of coming there and the police officer told me that they are there at least 5 TIMES A DAY!!!!!!

I have contacted a lawyer and am in the process of filing a civil suit. If you have had or are having issues with this company, please let me know and you may be able to join in on the law suit I am getting started. It is unreal the way these people are allowed to do business. WARNING: DO NOT BUY FROM THIS CAR LOT!!!!!
