If you’re thinking about renting this location, 315 Edgewater Dr., Anderson, SC (also known as 315E Portman View @ Green Pond or 315E Portman Marina Village and 4-315 Portman Vista and VRBO number 505204) you should select another location and not use Mountain Lakes Vacation Rentals or and other leasing avenue for this house. Also make sure you read the other reviews beforehand on VRBO.
We found the house via VRBO and rented it August 9-14, 2017 through Mountain Lakes Vacation Rentals, 15298 SC-11, Fair Play, SC 29643 since VRBO is listed on their website to rent this house as well. The claims made regarding ‘Fair and Consistent Descriptions’; ‘Guarantee’; ‘No Fault Satisfaction Promise’; and ‘100% Absolute Guarantee’ are false.
The descriptions and posted pictures are a misrepresentation of what it really looked like. The house had a tarp on the roof, ceiling texture falling in the living room, dirt, dust and clutter in all main living areas and half of the deck was so overgrown with weeds it made it un-usable. Windows don’t close completely, much less lock, and there was no umbrella on the porch to block the sun.
You should also know that there is no access to hot showers (see prior reviews). After we complained about lack of hot water and they sent maintenance, we were first told that it was broken and ‘to not expect anything soon’ and on the next call were told that the hot water control is federally mandated to only provide warm water and that I could take that issue up with my congressman. We cut our vacation short and left early.
Then, to make matters worse, a management company representative named Fred became abusive and belligerent on a telephone conversation with me after we left early. I had previously spoken with a nice lady named Joan who agreed to compensate us for these numerous deficiencies. (No compensation has been received to date). After multiple phone calls went unreturned, Fred spoke with me. He screamed and yelled, called me a liar and told me to ‘Shut the f*** up’ numerous times before hanging up. The listed property manager is Jessie who was no help at any time.
We have tried again to address this in writing to Mountain Lakes Vacation Rentals and the listed homeowner, Anthony J. Cerqueira, to no avail.
