This dishonest moving company gave me a written "binding estimate" of $1,100.00, which was to be all inclusive and without "hidden charges." They actually put it in writing, but it meant nothing to them once they had my furniture. Actual charges to get my furniture back totalled $1,450.00.
Prior to signing the shipper's "binding estimate," I sought and received a written promise from mover that there would be no hidden charges in their estimate. But when they came to pick up furniture, they refused to load the truck unless I paid additional packing charges. When I showed them the written quote, which specifically included all packing charges, they just said "If you want us to load the truck, it'll cost and additional $200." Since I was leaving the state the next day, I had no choice but to pay.
When they delivered, over a week after they promised, I was out of town but had left a key with the landlord. They called and said they were adding another $200 (later reduced to $150) if I wanted the furniture left; otherwise they would not deliver. They called it a "long carry" charge, although the contract made no provision for such a charge and the carry was barely 25 feet.
