Mr. Jim Levy, CPA I gave him a check for $1250 to help settle a college debt loan. He was recommended to me by debt elimination services in Guilford, Ct. He cashed my check for $1250 that same day and after finding hi west Hartford, Connecticut
I contacted Mr. Levy on December 10, 2010 after he was recommended to me by Debt Elimination Services whom I found on the internet. They seemed very reputable and told me Mr. Levy can help with college debt. I made app. to see him as I was desperate for help. I was recently laid-off at my job and my husband is a retired teacher so we only receive an income once a month. I have a serious heart disease which will limit my working ability tremendously. I told all this to Mr. Levy and he said dont worry he can help. First he told me over phone $750 to start. Then when I was in his office he says $1250 to $2000. I was very nervous at this time, but also very desperate for help. I told him I couldnt offer that much right now and he said dont worrry, will hold check. Still very nervous I should have walked away, but gave him a check for $1250. I left office went straight to bank to make a deposit and was told by teller M. Levy already cashed my $1250 leaving me with near zero bal. I knew right then this was a scam and I was devastated. I have never heard of a company running to bank and cashing check and not depositing it in his acc. He ran to bank another red flag. I called him right away said not happy that he lied he said he needed the money. I told him right then I wanted my money back and was canceling with him. My husband and I went back to his office to get our refund and he was so smug saying he didnt have it and he didnt have any checks.Well a CPA without checks another red flag. Finally he said he would mail my check back that week. Of course, no check. I have called him and no answer. I cant bel someone would take adv like that even after I told him stress is not good for my disease. One reason I needed to settle myloan and I told him I didnt want my children to inherit a large debt after I died. So he knew how sick and desperate I was and am.This man has told me nothing but lies and all I want is my money back and of course to stop him from stealing other innocent peoples money. He also states he did alot of work for me. How in a few hours? I called the loan co noones called on my behalf. He can show nothing hes done. Hes a fraud and must me stopped. Thank you.

I'm disappointed to learn that you have decided to publicly somehow include my company as being negligent in your complaint. First you were never a client of ours and second you asked if we knew of anyone who did that kind of work and we were just trying to help. We have absolutely no interest in this accountant.
Just because someone cashed a check that you wrote to him doesn't make them dishonest. Everyone has bills to pay. Nobody forced you to pay him. I certainly had no control over your interactions with Mr. Levy and I also have no control over what another person or company does.
If anything, you have pushed me further from wanting to recommend anybody for anything ever again. It sounds like you changed your mind about how you are doing things and now want to blame everybody else.
Ultimately we are all responsible for our own decisions and actions. My intentions were only two try and point you in the right direction. We even told you that we didn't have any personal experience with him but that we had heard he did a good job for some people. We are a very honest, loyal company, that works hard for people.
It is unfair for you to bash my company's name based on a relationship with another individual that has absolutely nothing to do with my company. We will never recommend anybody to anyone going forward for fear of insane backlash. It just isn't worth it.
