MRI INTERNATIONAL / MACANTHONY REALTY PURCHASED IN BANSKO BULGARIA WITH PROBLEMS Marbella, Spain
We had bought two properties in Bansko Bulgaria after a visit in 2007. We were very impressed and paid everything we were asked. Talk about gullible.
However, as I have worked for a lawyer and dealt with conveyancing when it came to sorting out the mortgages when the properties were built (March 09) we were told mortgages were hard to get due to the credit crunch. We had to pull out. However, on looking through our paperwork and in a great panic as we were to lose 70,000 it transpired that although we were told we had exchanged contracts we had in fact not exchanged contracts as we had not sent any Powers of Attorney signed over to the lawyers. They had exxchanged contracts without our confirmation. However, after a lot of emails and desperate conversations the lawyers have told us that MRI are going to refund us our money. We have been waiting but so far it has not got to our bank. The lawyers are doing what they can (so they tell us) but I am getting very concerned.
The next problem is the furniture packages. We had a phone call from one of their reps in early Dec 08 to say if we did not send the money over within 14 days we would lose the 6% rental income - so stupidly we sent 12,000 which we paid for on a credit card. Now we have pulled out we have been told we cannot have our money back as MRI do not do resales and are left with a huge credit card bill.
We are now desperate. We will have to sue -if anyone else is in the same boat please please contact me and we will see what can be done. I am desperately contacting our lawyer who is sorting out getting the 70k back and the next step is the furniture. I have written a letter yesterday to their Chief Executive asking him to assist, but will wait and see if I hear anything.
This is soooo distressing and we stand to lose our house in the UK if we don't get the money back soon.
Let this be a warning to others.

To anyone who has had problems with this company, if you do a search on MRI a site called eyeonworldwide.com will come up. This has many, many other people on it who have had problems and are trying to get a group together. So far we have around a hundred members. We are working hard to get something done about these companies. If, when you go on the site, you look at Bulgaria, you will find others in similar situations. I am not sure that I can give any more information than this, as MRI monitor the eow site, get posts removed and the site wants to avoid any trouble with MRI, so say that they will suspend membership even though they accept that the posts are legitimate. If anyone knows how to contact people through the ripoffreport site please let me know.
