Hi Kell, Sophia and others, I came across your comments and felt it necessary to let you all know that my brother and I have experienced very similar problems with MRI. We went along on a viewing trip to Bansko in 2005 and ended up purchasing an apartment in Aspen Heights for 40k, on the premise that after completion we would have use of the golf course on 'Pirin Golf' and that we would also make lots of money from rentals. We have since been told by MRI that we will not receive access to the golf course. We were initially told it would not be a problem to get a mortgage but after paying to use CFP, we were told that Bulgarian banks had stopped lending, to which we received no refund from CFP. We have also paid upfront for their so-called rental service, to which i understand has now been outsourced and we have received no replies to our emails. We had to end up raising the remaining funds so that we didn't lose the property altogether. The development has apparently been completed (2 years late), however, we are STILL waiting for the title deeds to be signed via LI. I have had to chase and chase both MRI and LI for updates, and if i am lucky enough to get through to someone then it's one excuse after the other. We are hopeful that the development does actually exist and that we will receive it at some point, however, it feels like we have benn held to ransom and I am dreading what will happen with regards to the furniture pack that we paid up-front for. To date, we have paid upfront for the following: - 1 bed apartment - Furniture packs - CFP services - MRI Rental services We are happy to join any group that will help to support the cause, i have also included a link below for a support group dedicated to MRI customers: (((Redacted))) Talltrees CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report.

My story is identical (30K loss). Exactly the same happened to me, only I didn't lose the second one, because it did not complete until a year after the 1st, and I had time to source the mortgage myself. I cannot believe they can get away with this mortgage scam, but they are. I would love to join any group looking for justice.

Hi Sophia and any others There are many people out there who have had this unethical treatment by MRI, we are beginning to find each other . There is a forum called Talk Bansko. You are not allowed to mention MRI but if you register and post a comment about Legal Independence I will get in touch. Also on Facebook you will find similar experiences, search for Aspen.

Hi Kell A friend and I have had a very similar experience to with MRI. We bought 2 studios in Bansko June 2007 and the sales guys was really good. Explaining things in a way that we couldn't fail to loose out. Looking back on the situation we should have brought the contracts home for a British solicitor to look over them but we were put in a position where we felt we must sign there and then and hand over a deposit at the same time. We have now discovered that there is no rental contract and there is also no maintenance contract either. They are now demanding the rest of the payment on the properties which we have been unable to get hold of because the lending company they suggested have not come through for us. As we have not been able to give them the rest of the payment they are now charging us! Luckyly we have not purchased any furniture which I keep getting repeated phone calls for! We feel very, very reluctant to give anymore money to this company and have had no help or suggestions to find a way round this by legal independance. They strongly recommend that we pay the rest of the money and say that we will loose our deposit if we don't. Even if we had the money to pay the amount owed we will have a running liability on our hands as there is no maintenance contract. I too remortgaged my property to get hold of the money to fund this investment and was so excited about the possibilities with it. This has made things very tough for me and my friend. We need a legal professional to advise us but we cannot afford to take MRI to court. If, however, we could get a group of us together (say 20) then we may have something instead of suffering in silence on our own. There is a solicitors in Pudsey, Leeds called John Howe Solicitors and he gave us some very sound advice. Then I spoke to another friend who suggested something called a 'Class Act'. If we could get a group of us together to do this then who knows we may find a way of not letting this awful company get away with this. Any comments would be greatfully appreciated. It does make me feel alittle better knowing someone else can relate to our situations but there may be so many more other people out there that we could bring MRI down...
