For the record, it is not just the price that is the problem here.  It is the fact that the price should've been known from the start, rather than being taken for several hundred there, several thousand there, etc.  I highly recommend that you report your experience with the BBB, the Attorney General, and/or other appropriate organizations....submitting copies of documents....any photos, etc.  At least if it is there, they will be able to reference it and evaluate if their complaints are enough to investigate.

In my case, the whole sewer line should've been hydrojetted before it was camera inspected, then camera inspected, then hydrojetted to work on clearing debris and charged for that before telling me I needed anything else.  The line wasn't even cleared out enough to inspect properly.  They waltz in and tell a homeowner who is brand new at dealing with plumbing issues so they wouldn't know, that the camera inspection was not logical choice after the rodder was unable to move through the sewer line (they also knew that the rodding wasn't working anyway, so why not sell me the HydroScrub service?).

After the camera inspection, which you could barely see the pipe itself in, determined that the "diagnosis" was that it is draining slow; thus, that is a valid reason to tell a homeowner they need a sewer line replacement.  I should've had the camera inspection and hydrojetting done first, but they jumped right into that the only way to take care of my problem is to replace the sewer line.  Needless to say, this went on for two contracts, with the second contract being a sliplining process (inserting 4" pipe into 6" terra cotta pipes) which cost almost as much as the first 30 feet or less (I'd have to measure to report exactly how many linear feet of pipe they laid down) of the sewer line located underneath of the basement foundation.

The process wasn't a complicated one either-it was a straight unobstructed shot to the main from the houstrap.  After the work was completed, the sewer still backed up.  They never came to within the 2' stated on the contract; thus, they are guilty of breech of contract.  I created a rip off report after waiting approximately 10 months for someone to address the issue, only to have the owner tell me he was going to contact me when he returned from Florida to address the issue.

When, in reality, he had no intention of addressing the issue, but rather referring the situation to a lawyer who has threatened, essentially, my 1st amendment right.  All the actions of Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh, Mr. Rooter Corporation, and the Dwyer Group have been nothing but deceptive and feeds further evidence that they support fraudulent activity among their franchisee owned businesses so that they can make the big bucks.  They haven't showed any behaviors that would make my statement false; therefore, it must be true until proven otherwise.

although they give up front prices, their prices are double and sometimes triple what they could and should be. also, they send guys to a house with a main drain clog with a machine they know WILL NOT get the clog. why you may ask, because they want you to pay for another guy to camera the line so he can tell you that it is broke and needs dug up and replaced at a price of thousands. any reputable plumber will tell you that over 90% of the drains under ground DO NOT need dug up and replaced. they are no better then the other major rip off GILEECE. their guys are ALL paid ONLY commision, if they dont work they dont get paid. the more you pay the more they make. its all a numbers game, the guys have to get as much out of you as they can because they dont know if they will make anything else or not. call a company that will give you a price over the phone, you will be way better off and will pay so much less.

as far as the senior, he should have paid no more then $500 to have that work done, including all materials and the faucet.

also, they hire people with ZERO plumbing experience. the law says anyone can work as a plumber as long as they work FOR a master plumber. very few guys at mr rooter actually have a license. the guys that do, hate being there but have very little options, they need to work and need the paycheck. blame the owner and management, most of the guys have dont like the prices either but have no choice.

DONT FAULT THE WORKERS,FAULT THE OWNERS!!!!!

there is no way that happened like that. if it did, then it is YOUR fault for paying it.

ive used them several times and the first thing they always do is give me a price. if i agree with it then i have to sign before they do any work, if i dont agree, then they leave me the form with the price. i have NEVER had any issues with this company and ive been using them for years. sometimes i like the price, sometimes i dont. but they have NEVER just done work for me without me knowing the exact price before they start. i find your report absolutely false and you are probably just mad because you agreed to it and found someone else afterwards that could have done it cheaper.
