We were moving and decided to downsize some things. We looked in the newspaper and found Murray Knapps ad buying furniture, china, etc. So we called him and he came right away. He said the best way to move our stuff was by public auction. He came a few days later and we helped him wrap and pack. He took a pickup load and he said the auction would be on Labour day weekend at Comber and to come and bring your friends. It would be the best weekend for an auction. We went in the morning but there was no seats and our stuff was last to be auctioned.
I am not able to stand that long so we left. I had a friend there and she wanted some of our things so stayed till the end. She said Murray must have had friends in the audience. She would bid $100.00 for an item she would stand and had her hand up and he would let the item go for $40.00. So even though she was yelling he would not acknowledge her. Murray would say sold then look back at her. She still stood with her hand up and he said to her it was over and done with and move on. She bid up to $1000.00 on our royal Albert China set.
It went for $2500.00 but she could not afford that so dropped out of the bidding. We only received $450.00 for it from Murray Knapp. We had a 3 peice dining room set and she watched that go. One lady offered $400 for one peice of the set he said no that it had to go together. The set went for well over $1000.00 not sure of the exact amount. We only received $400 of that for the entire set, he kept the rest. Some articles she knew should be there but she couldn't even find them. Murray Knapp is a cheat he is so flagrant with it that he doesn't even try to hide the fact. How many more have been cheated this way? His name should not be in good standing. Thank you.

I have known this man and his company for over 30 years.. he is a very hard working individual and your claims of this auction wow 2500 for royal Albert dishes that in itself I would have to say was bullsh* and you only getting 450. Really. He is the best commission rate auctioneer out there does not charge for all the crazy advertising he does... he would not miss a bid ever that is what he is up there for.. so I think what your saying about this auction and the auctioneer are false . My father was an auctioneer and have met Murray through his auction. Have worked at these sales as well. I was married to Murray for 20 years and being the x if there was something negative to say it would be me. He is alot of things but a con or rip off man he is not... his name is on his business and I know how much he values his name . He used to always say when you go in the ground your name is all you have. And I know we have had our differences but these stories I hear here are nothing but false . He is a great auctioneer and has been for alot of years he knows his stuff. And is very professional.. you cannot put a gun to ppls heads to make them bid you do take your chances for sure but as for missing bids yep no sorry he is fair to open it up if he ever did. But to give you such little funds if your item went for that much wow. If you want your stuff sold right and paid in a timely manner get Murray...someone who has been in the business for over 40 years himself not to mention the whole family of auctioneers lots of history behind selling not ripping ppl off. I was disturbed when I read this about him...

This is a rebuttal to the false claim. Murray Knapp Auctions is very respected. Any claims otherwise are misinformed or false. I have known and used this service for years and will continue to do so.

I attend all of Murray's auctions and I have never seen China nor used living room sets command such prices. In today's market you can't even give China away so if someone made 400 on it they should just run to the bank. Auctions are like gambling, sometimes you win sometimes you loose.

I attend everyone of his auctions and I have NEVER seen china nor livingroom sets go for that kind of money. When you put things in auction it is a gamble. Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. I have put things in Murray 's auction several times and :I have done well but on ocassion I did not. AUCTIOS ARE A GAMBLE.
