Mutual Financial Securities - Mutual Securities Company sends $4890 If it seems too good to be true, run Hazelwood Missouri
Mutual Financial Securities Inc. sent me a check in the amount of $4890. In their letter they state that I am one of declared winners of the "Shoppers Sweepstakes" held on September 5, 2008; that I am entitled to $250,000.00 from a total prize money of $5 Million Dollars.
They also state that the tax amount is $2985 and it is to be paid by either MoneyGram or Western Union and to not attempt to cash the check until you contact their claim agent within 5 days.
You call the number given and the mailbox is full. It continues to be full. Meanwhile, you are holding this $4890 check.
The ripoff: The check looks real so you deposit it, they have no funds so it bounces. They now have your bank information.
Rip-off: You may have sent them the $2895 tax amount by MoneyGram or Western Union.
