I submitted my information to MysterShoppingOnlineJobs.com in early October 2017. A couple of days later a woman emailed me named "Jennifer Johnson", "Senior Admission Manager". I am not sure if this woman actually exists if she is based in the US, or actually has a legitimate company. It appears to me that her business model is based on getting thousands of people to do her first and second "Assignment Sheets" before they realize that they are not going to be paid. This would explain the thousands of ad's she posts across internet forums on a constant basis across the United States (and Craiglist of which I found this gig).
The website, which is very poorly made should have been a red flag, but I thought that I would give it a try. Four hours of work to see if it was legitimate was a worthwhile endeavor in my mind. A second red flag was that on their website, they prominently display "I-9 We E-Verify". The I-9 form is designed to prevent unauthorized workers from working in the United States. I was never required to fill out this information, which is illegal. I have since sent this specific complaint the Michigan Attorneys General Office for them to look into.
A couple days later, after sending in my initial "Assignment", she said that she would review it and let me know if it met requirements. There were a couple of things that needed to be adjusted and I quickly finished it and resubmitted the assignment. A few days later she sent me an email saying:
Hi Joe, I have received and reviewed your screenshots for your 1st Job Sheet and you did a great job! According to your notes, there were a couple of jobs that you couldn't do. The payout has been adjusted accordingly and the details are listed below: Energy Bill Savings - deducted 1 dollar(phone time not applicable due to site error)
Mortgage Refinance - deducted 1 dollar(phone time not applicable due to site error) Your Total Payout for the 1st Job Sheet is: 48 dollars
As we state in the Getting Started Guide, payouts are processed on the 3rd of each month via PayPal for the work that has been completely processed by the last day of the month. We just need to get a little more information from you to make sure that we have everything correct in our database. 1. The email address that you use to receive payments at PayPal. Please make sure the email address that you submit is correct. PayPal will not allow us to reverse any payments made to incorrect email addresses unless the money is unclaimed after 30 days. 2. Tell us how you heard about our company!
Sincerely, Jennifer Sr. Admission Manager I have since, sent a handful asking when payment will be remitted for my work and she has not responded to any of them. The date today is November 9, 2017, and I still have not received payment. This is a textbook scam. She rushes people through her assignment sheets in an attempt to get them to complete as many as possible before they realize that they will not be paid. It is her business model. And she just keeps the paltry amount that these companies pay her for her services.
