My son was addictied to crack cocain for 15 years. After complete desperation, I took my inheritence (which I just recently received) to enroll my son into a rehab center.

I researched for the best in the country as this was a one time opportunity. I originally went to an AA site but the 800 number was actually a Narconon rep. I did not know that. They sent me to their website and from the looks of everything...I thought it was the answer to my prayers.

I had Intervention come in to help convince my sone to go. My son was on a plan the next moring and at Stone Hawk that evening. I did not receive the contract for enrollment until after my son was already there. I was not happy with the contract but signed it as he was already there.

After my son was there a couple of weeks he began to tell me of the condition of the facitlity. It was disgusting! I thought he was exagerating because he didn't want to be there. But he was not.

The furniture was old and torn and the arms on the chairs were oily from so many people sitting in them over the years. The showers were dirty and old. Sometimes they were forced to share a room with 6 people.

They forced him to run on an ankle that was sprained. It was only because of my calls to them that a cast was put on him and a bycycle was bought for the gym. The brochures showed a gym that was fully equipped, but this was not the case.

After apprx 45 days, my son was suspended and taken to a motel and dropped there with none of his belongings, no money and no way to go anywhere. No one called me to tell me anything.

He was suspended for reporting the mis-conduct of a counselor towards a female student. They were having sex. The counselor was dismissed shortly after my son was suspended.

The counselor that was dismissed, disliked my son due to the accusation and began leaving him in the suana longer than he should. This could have been very dangerous for him as niacin is used with the sauna treatment and could cause liver damage.

I have asked for refund of part of the enrollment. I was denied. Now I have no more money to continue to help my son.

I wish all that read this and have been to this facility would email me at (((ROR REDACTED E-MAIL ADDRESS FOR SECURITY PURPOSES))) and we can get together and file a class action lawsuit.

Narconon Stone Hawk has been the subject of intense scrutiny lately, including a lengthy series of radio segments on the Vince Daniels show on KCAA. You can listen to these, hear stories of other Narconon victims, and read about Stone Hawk's ties to Scientology by visiting this web site: Stop-Narconon.org/StoneHawk I am the owner of this site, and have personally worked with several families to help them obtain refunds. Contact me through the web site if you need assistance. I'm not a lawyer; I can't file a suit for you. I can only offer information and free advice.

Narconon=Scientology - EXACTLY. The Ethical Narcotics Recovery group is NAR-ANON. I highly doubt Narconon has a higher success rate than anybody, at anything, besides conversion to Scientology, the "church" that requires payment for every step of "spiritual progression". Two scams in one, and victimizing a group of people not usually in a position to be on guard for a scam - drug addicts. When they come to want help, it sickens me these vultures are right there waiting. Nar-Anon, THAT'S the place to go for genuine help.

Do your research before checking into Rehabs

Most rehabs ARE a ripoff. To avoid this in the future, thoroughly check out the rehab *before* plunking down the money. They ALL demand payment in full in advance, in my experience. None will give refunds! Many want to load you up with (legal)drugs! They are for the most part, expensive and ineffective. I believe that Narconon has a higher success rate than most. They also do not place you on additional (legal) drugs. You also must follow all the rules in rehab or you will get kicked out. Remember they are dealing with drug addicts and have to be very strict. You son must have broken a rule.
