Narrows Saloon The Narrows, The Narrows Saloon, Narrows Restaurant wouldn't honor valid gift certificate and got an attitude. No manager on-site and wouldn't reveal owner's name. Navarre, Minnesota
I gave my daughter a gift certificate for The Narrows Saloon in Navarre (Mound) Minnesota, from Restaurants.com. After she dined at The Narrows, the restaurant wouldn't honor the certificate. They said it was "redeemed."
It was NOT a used certificate. In fact, I could log into the Restaurants.com website and the website said that it was "not used". I hadn't used it yet because I had originally received two of these certificates and when I used the first one back in November, 2009, the service was lousy, so I never went back. I had hoped that was an isolated incident, so, unfortunately, I gave my daughter the other certificate for $25.
The restaurant wouldn't take it and threatened to call the police over $25. The waitress was more concerned about whether my daughter had enough for the tip. The restaurant's server was just as rude while waiting on my daughter. The waitress and bartender (who answered the phone), also complained that they were the only ones on duty with a full restaurant. No manager. No way to get a hold of the owner. They wouldn't tell me the owner's name either.
The restaurant insisted that it wasn't their problem. Of course, the customer service number for Restaurants.com had already closed for the day.
Then the Narrows staff insisted that my daughter's boyfriend hand over his credit card and driver's license and said they'd return them after he settled up the next day. What?
With two terrible experiences at this place, I will never go back to the Narrows again. I'm really sorry I put my daughter through this. They are on a limited income and the certificate was supposed to help with an evening out.
