Actually, it does state in the contract to send the letter Certified or Registered Mail. I was also told by the General Manager that this had to be done. He did not inform me that this was an option. The gentleman at the Post Office recognized the sending address and said "you wouldn't believe how many of these we've seen come through here" which goes to show that NFC has made alot of people mad. The company was also on the Local news recently about scamming members. So don't tell me that "I'm in the wrong" here because I'm not alone. I also, as previously stated, cancelled the contract in the time allowed. The rip-off I'm reporting is that they chose to still charge me for the first month several days AFTER cancellation.

I feel this needs to be stated because a lot of fitness facilities hear this exact same complaint. I will leave out my irrelevent emotions as best as possible. You need to understand you were signing a contract. I have seen literally countless people sign gym contracts and walk away feeling like they can leave at any time. This simply is not the case. You agreed to every fee that you paid and you also agreed that those intial and any administrative fees were non-refundable. I have read over the National Fitness Center contract many times and unfortunatly I can assure you that you will never see any refund greater than the $39.90...and you are not entitled to. On another note as I have seen this frustrate people in the past...you do NOT have to send your letter certified mail. The policy to tell customers that is your own benifit that should a claim be disputed you have evidence the letter was recieved and the dates it was sent and recieved are recorded by a impartial third party. I am sorry you had a bad experience, and I may not agree with all of thier policies hence I would never join, but on that particular day...you did agree to them. You are in the wrong here, I just do not want others to blame a company for something they felt unsure about as a customer. Gyms do NOT have a high profit margin, and they do NOT come with a money back gaurentee. I apologize for spelling and grammer.
