This National Readers Service is one hell of a parasite. Several years ago, Stupidly i agreed to recieve some magazines through readers service. They told me that i would be charged monthly and could cancel anytime.

So i was getting magazines and finally finished my terms of service, gladly by this point. About a year went by and i hadn't been being charged. Then one day out of the blue, i recieved a phone call from National readers service claiming that i had only finished HALF of my agreement.

I told them basically that they were full of crap, and they said infact i owed them over $1700!!!! And that i was under their contract for the next 30 months! So they started billing me $39.90 a month on 2 seperate charges.

The next i had them on the phone they said i had purchaced a whole seperate account! What a load of crap. I tried to cancel, but they wouldn't allow it, stating i was under a binding contract, and that i would be reported to to the credit bureau if i refused to pay.

Now, I HAVE read all the other rip-off reports on this sham of a company (if you can call it that). Every story is almost exactly the same as mine. They call over and over and always say the exact same thing offering you a discount. Whats even odder is, that everytime, the represenative you talk to is somehow new at the company, and he or she will transfer you to their "supervisor" you know, just to be sure they were polite...again what a load of crap!!!

The supervisor gets you on the phone and strings together a bucketfull of questions that you cant understand, and that are designed to trick you...

I want these frikkin people off my back! Are they a legit company? Can they ruin my credit? Why arent these d**n crooks in a prison somewhere by now???

Please someone let me know anything on how to get rid of them for good!!!

I too have been taken for the same ride as you and have to go through the same thing to get this mess sorted out. What's wrong with these people!!!

I also posted a report here. Right now I have disputed the charges with my bank and did these extra charges they added to my debit card and haven't been charged anything else. I sent them a letter saying I no longer want anything to do with them since they're little letter said they would never raise the price and they did. I attached a copy of that letter and highlighted it. I told them I considered the subscription null and void because of this. I've been getting the magazines and am trying to get them returned. I haven't been contacted so I'm not sure if this worked but I'll let you know if anything new happens. Also I checked the BBB for this company in Shawnee, Kansas and they are accredited and have an A+ (I'm still confounded). What I'm trying to figure out is why all the reports seem to be with different states.

These people are really pissing me off!!! Now they are charging me for 3 seperate accounts that I NEVER agreed to or or signed up for! I flat out told this man that called me from National readers service...AKA...Readers Source.....AKA.....Publishers Renewal Service...That they are Ripping me off and Stealing my money! The man told me that he did not believe that, and that i should call their customer service....for which he gave me no number for before he frikkin hung up on me. This call was on my cell phone which i'm not sure how he got in the first place. So i called the number back on the caller id. The man identified himself to be from 'National Reader Service", but the recording i got when i called the number back identified themselves as Publishers Renewal Service! It was all a huge run around with the recording and i was not even able to talk with a rep which it stated i could do. I wish i could put them in their place, but i cant do it alone. Nobody even seems to freakin care that these people are ripping off thousands of people. Does anybody care? Dang-it i do and i feel for everybody else who has been screwed by these ingrates
