I pre-paid through hotwire 192.00 for a ford focus for 5 days.  Mt reservation was for 11:30 p.m. and of course my plane was delayed so it was after 12:00 a.m.  The shuttle driver asked if I had a reservation in which I replied yes, and he asked if I was an Emerald Club member in which I also replied yes! At that time the counter was closed but because I had pre-paid it they took me to the car "never did I go to the counter" The only person I seen was at the exit gate in which he asked for a copy of my drivers license and credit card as he stated my information on file was expired. So i gave it to him.  So at the end of the week I returned my little ford focus economy car and was taken back when my receipt printed out $242.11 after allready paying in advance $192.00 through Hotwire. When I went to the counter and explained this is a mistake, the folks in the office said there was nothing they could do about it as they were laughing in a packed room. I had a plane to catch so I left and contacted them later and still got no satisfaction, and Hotwire said they had allready paid so my dispute was with National. National claims that since my plane came in after 12:00 a.m. that my contract with hotwire was voided, yet they didn't reimburse me the money allready paid, and what difference would it had made as I paid for a week, so I don;t get the use of the first day thats on me, I should still have the remaining usage that I paid for. So now I end up paying twice and they use an arbitrator "Beware never agree to use a compnay sponsored arbitrator" as you usually end up on the short end of the deal. As a frequent traveller who uses many cars throughout the year and prepaid services. This Emerald Club is of no value, an inconvenience and so is Hotwire.
