NCO Financial continues to call my house looking for my ex-husband. They leave false names and extensions with their call back numbers. When you call and ask for the person and extension they say there is no one by that name there or at that extension. The first time I called I got this. The rep, female, was rude. She tried to tell me that my phone number wasn't in their database. I explained it had to be since they called my house and left a message for a person that doesn't live at my address. She said don't worry about it. It was probably a wrong number. I told her that the person they were looking for was my ex-husband but he did not live at this number. Again, she insisted my number wasn't in the database, told me to call back the next day and hung up on me!

I called back and got a gentleman that was much nicer. He asked for the name of the person they left the message for and was able to locate the information. I informed him that it was my ex-husband and to please stop calling me. He made notes in the file, asked me a few questions and that was it.

Just yesterday, December 31st, someone from NCO called again and left a message. I called back and again the rep that answered said that my number wasn't in the database. Again I explained it had to be. He finally located it by the name of my ex. I told him that I'd already called and let them know that I didn't have any information and to take my number out of their database. He said he couldn't do that. He said it would stay in the database forever since I was listed as an alternate contact. He also stated that if people calling don't look at the right page in the account they will not see the notes to not call me.

He got rude and suggested that I have my home phone number changed if I didn't want them calling me anymore. I told him I would not get my number changed as it belonged to me and that I would file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office and any other bureau to make them stop calling. He started laughing and kept insisting that I get my number changed to stop the phone calls. I finally hung up on him.

Something should be done to stop the harassing phone calls. This is not much different than the telemarketers calling you and there should be legislation passed to stop these unjust practices from collection agencies.

I could understand it if I was the debtor they were calling but I'm not even the person they are looking for.

What agencies should I contact to file complaints to get my phone number removed from their records and the annoying phone calls to stop?
