To whom it may concern,

My name is Anthony Segreto and I am writing on behalf of the horrific customer service I received from Neighbors Moving & Storage. Shame on me for not verifying their consumer ranking on-line & googling there name prior to hiring them or I would have seen this article posted by another unsatisfied and extremely upset customer.

Rip-off Report: Neighbors Moving & Storage Neighbors : Lazy, Nasty ...

It all started when my wife and I were planning our move and decided to look in the yellow pages. We had thought we had done our due diligence when we saw the Movers of the Year Boast they had claimed. Once I dialed (954) 385-4800 the Ft Laud branch I was connected to a slick but polite sales rep. He had gone through all the value propositions of why choosing Neighbors Moving and Storage was the smart and economical choice. After I gave a very detailed analysis of what the move entailed he then began to give me the breakdown

$89 an hour

1 hour for the commute (1/2 hour there and hour back) to be added to total

We wrap the furniture and other items requested

That it was a 2 man job and it would be (No More than 4-5 hrs)

I said thank you and gave him my contact info as we were still awaiting the final closing date. He had then begun a series of follow up calls to get a deposit from me. Finally once we received the confirmation of the close I called him back and gave him the $50. Deposit to secure the date and stressed the Time sensitivity of us being out of the house by 1:00 P.M. His response was a resounding That will not be a problem Mr. Segreto The movers will be there between 8:00 & 8:30 A.M. So far so good.

On the day of the move the movers showed up at 7:45 A.M. and I was ecstatic, only to fin out that they were going to sleep in the truck in front of my house til 8:30 A.M. Once they made their way to my garage door which had been upon since there arrival I introduced myself and let them in. I began to walk them through the house (Which was half empty to begin with). You could see by the look in their eyes they did not want to be there and began complaining about the amount of work they would be performing and the size of the furniture. They then said that this was now a 3 man job and for and Addition $49 an hour they would call in a 3rd mover. That was unacceptable to me since I had thoroughly discussed in detail all the aspects of the move and was assured of the quality and speed of the move.

My wife Jenny then had to speak with dispatch and Make a Deal to lower the rate for the 3rd mover. They agreed on $10 extra an hour. I had then left the house to run some errands. Unfortunately the 2 movers were not willing to begin with the necessary attitude until the 3rd arrived and my wife had no intentions of paying by the hour for subpar service. The solution the movers came up with was that they would go get the 3rd and return within a half hour, My wife had no choice but to agree and I was not home to make any calls to dispatch. Upon returning from my errands an hour and a half later there were still no sign of the movers. So once again I called dispatch stressing the importance of an empty house by 1:00 P.M. She told me they were around the block and would be there shortly. 15 minutes later they showed up. It was now 10:30 A.M. They finally began to work. Here is where the fun begins.

Oh Mrs. Segreto are you aware of the 18% fuel charge

No Mrs. Segreto we DO NOT wrap that

Oh Shrink wrap is an extra charge

I then called dispatch for the 4th time to discuss the new developments. Just to receive lip service.

In watching them move my wife was amazed to see the manor in which they handled the furniture. Obviously not as their own, but as if they were doing it for free and we were inconveniencing them. Finally when my wife saw them Rolling out TV down the stairs when she said something they confronted her with a Do you think this our first time. Don't question me about how I do my job She was mortified. They now were at the final stages of the load and said No More Room That is unacceptable but due to the stress level and the time constraint I started packing our cars.

Now that we had everything packed we were now ready to trek to the new home. More Great News.

We need full payment NOW or we will not unload your stuff

You Need to Sign ALL the fulfillment contracts or we will not unload your stuff

My better judgment told me NO and so did my wife but the time and stress elements got the best of me so I signed on my wife's behalf. Upon seeing the condition of the corners of almost all my furniture being damaged my wife said something to the movers only to be called A b***h Once again mortified. I was not there due to the fact I had to go back home to get my Pressure cleaner. Then when I returned I found out that my wife had to go to the bank to wire funds so I was unaware of the damage and the use of the word b***h I then saw them packing up. I went around the house checking rooms and notice that the beds which they took apart were not put back together. So when I said something I was told We don't do that. The 5th call to dispatch was now rendered. More Lip Service. Yes Mr. Segreto they will take care of it. Now they finished packing and I asked if they received a phone call from dispatch and they said NO. I then said that she said that you would be finishing the job you started and putting the beds that you took apart back together. This time I got a smirk and another resounding We ain't doing it and they left. Now the 6th call to dispatch was not a pleasant one. I felt that I was disrespected and ignored and let the dispatch women know how furiously DISSAPOINTED I was with the horrific service and how poorly the move went and the fact that THE JOB WAS NOT COMPLTE. I strongly suggested that they return and finish the job. No one ever returned. Now let me ask you. Does this sound like something anyone should have to go through on such a stressful day and more so does this sound like something that I should have to pay for. They should be paying us for the damages and distress we suffered. I do not know if you have ever encountered something like this but I do not wish this upon anyone. Thus the purpose of the Consumer Alert

Thank you for listening

Sincerely,

Anthony & Jenny xxxxxxxx

TRAC RECORD OF DISHONESTY CONTINUES!

#2Consumer Comment

Wed, February 11, 2009

This is yet another example of why everyone needs to avoid this company. My personal investigation into the complaints against them shows a trac record of misleading phone agreements, dishonest business practices, price gouging, holding consumers personal belongings hostage, theft and misleading delivery dates. I have first hand knowledge of most of these issues as well as documentation from the BBB giving this company an "F" rating for conducting business as well as citing all I mentioned above. But don't take my word for it....do yourself a favor and before you or anyone you know uses this company read all twenty complaints on this site as well as the BBB complaints. If after you read all the information and still use them prepare yourself for most of, if not all of the aforementioned "mobster style" tactics used daily by this company. You may read rebuttals from their "reps" stating "Of the thousands of clients we have that these are just a few complaints" but reading on you will see all the complaints are very similar and the "thousands of clients" is about as factual as their "explanations" for ALL the issues. There are compalints from all over the country regarding this company but the majority are from the POMPANO BEACH, FL office. If you have any issues after they have your money, they will not answer the phone, will not return voice mails or e-mails and will refuse to reimburse any money even when faced with legal action. TYPICAL MOBSTER MENTALITY! THEY WILL LIE TO YOUR FACE AND SMILE THE WHOLE TIME THEY ARE DOING IT!!! AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!
