Complaint Review: Nino D'Arena (Brookfield Place Toronto) - Toronto Ontario

  I went to Nino D'Arena to get a Keratin treatment done, and was told they carried the "Mercedes" of all Keratin treatments (Global Keratin). The reason why I wanted this done is because I have frizzy hair and was heading to Mexico that coming Saturday for my girlfriends wedding and didn't want to look like a cotton ball.

  I had just gotten my hair cut and died  (blonde) 4 days prior and said this to the stylist Patricia and she said it wouldn't be an issue. So the appointment was set for the Tuesday evening after I worked (just enough time to leave it for 3 days and wash it out before I left). While getting my hair washed before the treatment Patricia told me the amount would be $250 and that it included the shampoo and conditioner. When leaving the salon, I went to pay and found out that I would only be getting 30% off the shampoo and conditioner (totaling $340). That should have been a red flag there...

  So the Saturday morning comes along (I had decided to wash it out on the Sat instead of Friday night) and as I'm letting my hair air dry I noticed that the top layer (including bangs) was completely fried!!! I was so upset because I was about to get on a plane to Mexico with fried hair for a week! So I tried calling (since it was a Sat they are closed) and couldn't leave a msg because they do not have an answering machine - so I took pictures of my hair and sent it as texts to my girlfriends so it would have a date stamp on it incase they rebutted my claim.

  When I got back to work on the Tuesday I went to the salon to complain. Patricia came out and looked at it and had noticed the damage (didnt look as bad because I had straightened my hair - can't go into work with crazy fried hair) she offered for me to purchase, yes purchase, a conditioning treatment that would "help" it. I looked at her and said "you caused this damage and you want me to purchase something to fix it?!" her response was "Im sure we can figure something out but I have to talk to my manager". That's when it was mentioned that I wanted a full refund for it and she told me that the salon doesn't give refunds and that she would have to talk to her manager and would call me.

  I didn't get a call (surprise surprise) so the next day I went back. The manager was there and they offered 1 free conditioning treatment. Which my hair was s****.>

  Again I didn't get a call, so I went back for a third time. The manager came running towards me with a business card before I even reached the salon and gave me a contact name (Floriana) and her number. She then told me that I was to contact her at head office to resolve this issue.

  I have called Floriana twice and left voicemails and surprise surprise I have yet to hear from her!

  In the meantime of all this happening I went and got consults with more specialized stylist to see how this can be fixed and they have all said that I need to cut my hair. They also were appalled at the lack of assistance from this salon - they couldn't believe their attitude towards not wanting to fix this solution. The least they could have done is offered the conditioning treatment until my hair was fixed! So I spent another ($170) to get my hair cut short (which I have never ever done - I have always had long hair) and now its a front bob.

  I am writing this to make sure that no one ever finds themselves in this same situation as me!! When doing something extreme to your hair PLEASE go to someone experienced! Just because they charge a lot to do it doesn't mean they know what they are doing! DO NOT GO TO NINO A'DARENA!!!!!!
