When I purchased my vehicle brand new I also purchased a “Platiunum Plan” that was sold to the dealership from NDS AKA NIU of Florida. I am suppose to be covered for tires and wheels regardless of what occurs. However according to them I need to contact them and they will arrange to have someone come inspect the vehicle and damages and then they make all the necessary arrangements and then decide if they will cover for damages.

I happened to hit a major pot hole and my tire went flat within 30 minutes after hitting the pot hole. I contacted roadside assistance AAA and they sent someone to my home to remove the damaged tire/wheel and put the doughnut on my car. I contacted the dealership and they asked me if I could send them photos and so I did. The service department manager called me back and stated that the rim was bent and cracked which was visible to me. He placed the rim on order and in less than 2 days I went to the dealer to have a new wheel placed on my vehicle which cost $563 out of pocket.

I then called NDS and they gave me some song and dance about how I was suppose to go through all theses major steps to even be able to file a claim. Absolutely ridiculous considering I did not have time to be without a vehicle or afford to rent a vehicle while they took their sweet time stalling or refused to help me. I paid quite a bit of money for a plan that is absolutely useless.

All these extra plans are such a scam and I will never purchase another additional protection plan of any sort unless it comes directly from the dealership itself and not some messed up outside resource that just scams people.

Have you ever dealt with NIU / DNS before? If not your opinion does not matter.

First of all I had contacted them in the past about something and what I was told was something entirely different in regards to the necessary steps. I did pay for the damages up front and I did have more than just that pic along with pictures of the flat tire on my vehicle that I did share with them. The service manager at the dealership even spoke with them and let them know he had the wheel there if they wanted to send someone over there to do an inspection. He explained that I could not wait for them to come do an inspection and spend a week making a decision and that he needed to order the wheel right away so I was not out of a vehicle for more than one full day. Trust me this dealership has dealt with this company before and even individuals who were not in a major pinch and could be without their vehicle had troubles with this company and being reimbursed for their tires and wheels period.

I hope this never happens to you and if it does I hope you will stop and think that it’s okay for these companies to do this to people. Not all of us can sit around and wait. Most of us have to work and cannot afford to be out of work while some Insurance company takes it’s sweet time inspecting and deciding if something can be fixed or needs to be replaced yada yada. Some of us actually have to earn a living. I provided the company with plenty of information to state my case and again they will refuse to pay and get away with it as long as there are people like you to back them and their BS up. Enough said!!!

Your problem seems to come down to this one statement you made.

He placed the rim on order and in less than 2 days I went to the dealer to have a new wheel placed on my vehicle which cost $563 out of pocket. I then called NDS and they gave me some song and dance about how I was suppose to go through all theses major steps to even be able to file a claim.

According to this you had about two days between the time the damage occured and you finally decided to call them.

Did you ask the dealer what the claims process was? After all they sold you the policy and I would hope they would feel some responsibility in helping you out with the claim.  Did you at any time actually review the policy for the claims process?  Again you had about 2 days of just waiting for the rim to be fixed, yet according to this you did NOTHING.

You have no idea what they would have done if even right after you called the dealer that you contact the warranty company. Perhaps in that 2 days it would have been worked out, perhaps not but you did not even give them that chance. As everything that is wrong is at this point really just assumptions as to what you think would have happened.

You say that there were "major" steps that needed to be done.  Okay what were those steps?  If you were expecting something like you call them up say you had a bill and they would just hand over $563 on your word or even a single photo....you are not living in reality as that would not happen with ANY insurance company.  After all as the reality is that one photo you showed doesn't show what car it belongs to..does it.

If they wanted to inspect the part, it may have been as simple as the dealer holding the old rim until someone came out.   You may still have had to pay for it up front, but you could have possibly have been reimbursed.

Hopefully this will work out for you, if you keep trying to appeal the denial. You may find someone who will accept the statement of the dealer and the photo as proof. Where you may eventually get your money back, but if this is to happen it is something you are going to have to work for.

Good Luck.
