I purchased a Nordyne heat pump about 3 years ago to replace my 15 year old unit that had never given me any problems considering it's age. I assumed that for the price I paid that it would last as least as long as my old unit....but in about 4 months it began to leak freon and I was responsible for their defective product. Had it fixed at my expense because they said it wasn't covered by my $600 extended warranty or even the factory warranty. After I paid one time, I had to pay to have it fixed a second time at my expense. (This problem also plays havoc with your light bill too.) After the third time I paid to have it repaired, I begin to think it's going to be cheaper to buy a real heat pump from a reliable dealer and save money in the long run and just charge it to experience. Nordyne will not even act like they care about your problem with their product. Nor does anything they have in writing in their warranty have any value, it's not worth the paper it's written on. Buyer beware: Stay away from Nordyne!!!!
