I filed a report as well I have had all the same problems with this unit. It is 2 yrs old but have had problems all along and am now at almost $1000 in repair bills for labor and freon. Those morons in customer service need to Google "customer service" so they know what it means. I am ready to find an attorney who will file a class action against these people. Anyone want to join me??

I AM AN A/C DEALER THAT SOLD NORDYNE FOR 3 YEARS, I HAVE 400 UNITS IN, IT IS PLAYING OUT THAT THE LAST YEAR OF UNITS ARE ALL GOING BAD COIL LEAKS, NORDYNE SHIPS ME THE COIL AT A $50.00 cost, i supply the refrigerant and labor, even though they are all 14 to 17 mos. old and my labor warranty was 1 year, how can i charge these customers? It is costing me $500.00 per unit I installed, it is eating my business, nordyne does NOT care, they will not even answer my calls for help. I switched brands and so far so good, the problem is when a company screws up we find out to late. they also started making their drain pans from recycled plastic and they were cracking, guess who had to fix ceilings, clean rugs, replace floors????
Nordyne at one time was a decent company but now they are horrid, they are bankrupting a lot of a/c dealers, and do not care.

Bought a Frigidaire 5 ton AC/100.000 BTU central AC/Heat in March 09. Unit installed on 31 March. Problems--AC was OK (For Now) but the heater made a loud noise upon start-up. The installer replaced the blower motor (?) but the problem was still there! Told me to insulate the closet where the unit was. Did this and NO help for the problem. This problem STILL persist with this unit and is reported but unresolved. I was last told I would have to put up with the noise. The noise has been there since day one!
Now a few months into summer two the AC freezes up--called installer and he says nothing is wrong--Ice was melted by the time he arrived. Think he didn't believe me but not enough not to charge me $135 to tell me nothing was wrong. Now less than a month later the AC quits cooling--Nothing wrong-right! Apparently the 17 month old coils popped a leak and all the 421 freon leaked out--BAD coils-- the unit is only 17 months old. How could the coils go bad so soon?? Apparently this is a widespread problem with Nordyne coils (per installer and AC business owner) but all they will do is give you another of the flawed coils in my case! YOU have to pay for everything else--labor, freon, etc. This amounted to $500 for me to have the 17 month old bad coil replaced! There into me for thousands so I get milked for $500 more! Nordyne should have to pay for the complete cost since their equipment is sub-standard and lasted a fraction of the expected time! This unit hasn't given a single season of worry free performance. Don't buy this piece of junk--Find out whats inside the equipment before you buy! Nordyne's name hides inside a LOT of major/popular brands (Frigidaire for one)--Just make sure it isn't Nordyne. All their equipment is suspect and the warranty is to get another piece of suspect equipment to replace the bad one! Go with someone other than Nordyne!!! Check first then buy!!!
