Back in January 10, 2006, I placed an order for a diningroom set which included an extention table, 6 chairs, sideboard, china buffet and table pads. I was told that I needed to pay for this set in full in order for the order to be placed and it would take 4-12 weeks for delivery.

On April 7, 2006, when the time was drawing near to delivery I find out from the company that this set has been discontinued by the manufacturer. They ask me to look over their web-site and see if I'd like to order a different set.

I pick out another set and am promised delivery within 4 weeks. To make up for this inconvenience they gave me the set at an incredible savings. They would also give me the table pads, leather warranty and delivery at no charge as a show of good faith.

On May 4, 2006, when the time was again drawing near to delivery I try to get in touch with the company. My faxes are ignored and the phone is answered by a machine.

On May 28, 2006, I sent a letter and copies of the contracts I have with North Carolina Furniture Dealer, to the Office of the United States Attorney, 310 New Bern Avenue, Federal Building, Suite 800, Raleigh, NC 27601-1461. A week later I receive a letter back from R. A. Renfer, Jr, Assistant United States Attorney, Chief, Civil Division stating, and I quote, "I have reviewed your materials. This appears to be a matter involving a private commercial transaction. This office has no authority to become involved or provide legal advise. I suggest you seek private legal cousel to assist you."

On May 5, 2006 I have informed my credit card company of this fraudulent incident. They are investigating and said it will take up to 90 days for them to complete this investigation.

This charge of $3,607.00 has been on my credit card since January and I have been paying finance charges on it since then. This company has ripped me off and I'm afraid that not only will I never see this furniture but that I'll be ripped off for the amount of a set that I'll never receive.

I suggest that you contact the office of Roy Cooper, Attorney General of the State of North Carolina. They have gone after several furniture companies which do this sort of thing. The following URL: http://www.ncdoj.com/consumerprotection/cp_about.jsp takes you to the consumer protection page. Good luck
