Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I am amazed to read the problems others have had with Northern Leasing Systems (NLS). Like so many of you, I too was duped.

In July 2003 I received an advertisement in the mail at my new business, called them and a sales rep came to see me. I have owned several businesses before and am quite familiar with credit card machines and the charges associated with them. Like all of you, I thought their rates were reasonable and signed a one page contract.

The next month I received a statement with extra charges. When I NLS to complain they told me the charges were listed on the third page of my contract. I told them I only received one page from my representative. They mailed me a copy of my contract and low and behold it was 6 pages!!!! I think we all received the same contract with sprint so small you needed a magnifying glass to see them. My rep never explained to me all of the extra charges that were included.

I have made countless calls to cancel the contract and, like all of you, was told it was a 4 year non-cancelable contract a fact that they failed to mention initially.

I am now looking for people to join me in a class-action lawsuit. I have already been in contact with a large reputable law firm and have been in contact with one other business owner who is joining the suit. I need a minimum of 5 committed people in order to begin. If anyone is interested in joining this suit please email me at: . You need not give me your phone number or personal information (other than your first name) I will give you the contact information of the law firm/attorney I am dealing with.

Remember - there is power in numbers, if we unify, perhaps we can put an end to Northern Leasing Systems for good!

A class action suit has already been launched against Northern Leasing

The law firm of Chittur & Associates, P.C. in New York already filed and won a lawsuit against Northern Leasing for these trade practices. Here is a description of the lawsuit: A class action against Northern Leasing asserting a fraudulent scheme to entrap small businessmen fraudulently into equipment leases with undisclosed charges and onerous terms. Plaintiffs assert that Northern Leasing deceptively sells these leases to small businessmen through what appears to be a standard-form one-page lease, complete with signatures, and a personal guaranty. Thereafter, it routinely charges and collects much more than what is specified in the first page, and foists several other liabilities on the unsuspecting small businessmen. When small businessmen raise questions, Northern Leasing finally reveals the existence of 3 additional pages which make the lease irrevocable, onerous, and virtually indefinite. Routinely, these pages and their contents are never disclosed to the small businessmen at the inception, and are not incorporated into the lease. Nevertheless, Northern Leasing saddles small businessmen with all these terms and enforces them strictly. The Court has upheld the fraud claim, and the claim for punitive damages, ruling that the "allegations address more than a private wrong contending that defendants engaged in a course of conduct throughout the United States with such wanton dishonesty as to imply a criminal indifference to civil obligations."
