NPC Leasing company through Retriever Credit Card Processing, sent a salesman to to my business to raise my lease payment from $61.97 to $128.00 a month.  He used fast talk and basically threatened that I had to pay it because I had signed a contract that had to be renewed. My original contract said 48 months and only one year after the salesman said because of new regulations with chip reading I had to sign a new contract.  I refused and he left saying he would be back.  A month goes by and he did not return.

I had to change companies to be compliant with the new chip card reading requirement so I signed with a new processor company and bought my card reader for $299.00.  This company was great and very helpful.  After a month I called and cancelled my old Retriever service.  I was told no problem as my strong arm salesman was fired because of his unethical practices.  I asked for the address of the NPC leasing company to return my machine and their phone number.   I called them and explained what happened and was told I couldn't cancel.  

I said because their representative had used fraud type tactics to raise my lease rate I concidered the contract null and void.  The representative then told me the address to returen the machine. Which I did.  A week later I received a letter from NPC leasing co. asking me to pay a buy out of the contract for $2,025.28.  This is why I am writing this complaint.  I have put a stop payment on my auto payment from my bank account.  Now I am wondering what to do next.

I understand what the contracts intails but when the salesman says I must sign a new contract because the old one does not address the new chip reading requirement. The higher cost due to more processing cost according to him. All he needed to do was reprogram my existing machine which had chip reading capability but would not unless a new higher cost contract was signed.  He never came back inspite of my phone calls to him. As I understand it, the new chip reading capabiltiy was required by Oct. 1st.  Any vendor not using chip reading technology would be liable if customer's cards were hacked.  So I had a machine that did not function as requred withour paying double my old contract.  That is not right.

The salesman’s attempt to coerce you into another contract does not release you from the remaining three-year obligation of the current contract. You are expected to fulfill the terms of the agreement.
