Received letter from NRS-Services on August 11, 2009 addressed to my mother who had been dead for more than a year.  Letter was very unprofessional, had blatent errors and stated there was a "Past due cancellation fee" of $189.99 that needed to be paid within 4 days of receipt of the (uncertified) letter or and additional $300.00 would be due.



I could easily tell that this was a scam but decided to call anyway.  The names of the collection managers shown on the letter were "Bethany or Lewis".  The call was answered by a machine but the recording stated that the box was full.  Received a call at 6:45 the next morning from "Daphne" saying she was returning my call.  Not recognizing the name, I asked where she was calling from but she refused to answer and asked if I received a letter in the mail.  She asked for the "invoice number" and stepped away from the phone to "retrieve my file".  After asking her a few questions, I informed her that the letter was in direct violation of FEDERAL & STATE debt collection laws.  This really shook her up and she became very verbally abusive, screaming at me that she refused to speak to me any longer as I was so unreasonable and then slammed the phone down.



Since then, I filed complaints with the Attorney Generals offices in North Carolina (where the letter originated), and Arizona (recepient's address), as well as with the US Postal Service.



Today, I received a letter from the US Post Office who are conducting a mail fraud investigation!  Maybe this scammer will see the slammer soon!
