I have cancelled a hotel reservation made through Octopus Travel. I have given them over 1 weeks notice and yet they insist on making the charge.

I find it incomprehensible. I have never come across a similar company ethic. Different if it had been only 48hrs notice or less. I suggest don't book hotels through them. Greedy springs to mind!!!

Dear Stephen, We do not know the exact circumstances of your booking from the internet posting but our general booking terms and conditions are advised at the time of booking. It is advised at the time of booking that if you cancel there will be a penalty. The closer to the date you cancel, the more you have to pay. Canceling within more than 3 months in advance has no charge, but canceling between 1 week and 3 months carries a charge of 20 (or equivalent in other currencies) We understand that plans may change for our customers and there is no charge to amend bookings to alternative dates, so long as the length of stay and number of rooms stays the same. If the hotel is more expensive on those dates you need to pay this difference, but if it is less expensive we also refund the difference. We also have a 24 hour cooling off period after you book when you can cancel without charges, providing you are not traveling within 3 days when you cancel. We are sorry that you felt that you had to use the Rip Off report to vent your frustrations and did not feel that you could communicate your disappointment to us.
