Ocwen Mortgage Mortgage Mayhem at the consumer's expense West Palm Beach Florida
Ocwen Mortgage sent me my monthly mortgage statement and though the additional fee was minimal, I challenged the nature of this fee. When I asked what it was for I was informed it was a Property Inspection fee from March 2008. My first question was why it took them a year to post an additional fee to my account and then asked if they drove all the way from West Palm Beach to inspect my little house in Alabama? They said no we get someone locally. I then asked who came to my house without my knowledge and who inspected the external property? Hmm, lo and behold, they didn't know that information and didn't have an answer. I stated that as a homeowner I have the right to know when someone has been to my house and I want to know who came out. They simply bailed out and told me to send the request in writing. Ocwen is supposed to be a mortgage company but if you listen to their recording when you first call, it sounds more like a glorified collection agency that has had the good fortune to finance home loans. The phone message for consumers makes for a hostile introduction to the business and puts a consumer's guard up before they even get to talk to an individual. Is this company a mortgage company or a debt collector? You could call for something unrelated to your mortgage company and you are greeted with this message: "Thank you for calling Ocwen, although your call may be general in nature, we are required by law to advise you that Ocwen is a debt collector and any information obtained may be used for that purpose if needed.
