I bought Doctor Who Series 1-4 (22 DVD set) from OKBuyDVD.com. I first researched their reputation online. I found many positive reviews from customers who purchased the same series from the website. Also, it accepted Paypal, so I ordered.
First, I noticed the typos on the packaging. The pictures on the DVDs obviously did not match the episodes contained thereon. The few DVDs I put in the player did play. I liked the cool menu, but I did not think to check if the Special Features shown actually worked. Later, I did try to select the Special Features, but I could not even point to it. The same problem occurred when I played it on my computer. Next, I noticed the audio commentary track was completely gone. Some of the episodes contained moments of heavy pixelation.
I decided to email OKBuyDVD. I got an immediate response stating that it was OK since the DVDs did play on my player.
Upon further inspection, I found the sound often dropped out during the episodes. The sound problem was so bad that I had to watch the episodes with subtitles. The DVDs did not contain the Special Features Listed on the Box: "Music and Minster," "David Tennant's Video Diaries," "Audio Commentary," "Freema's Tour of the Studio," "Deleted Scenes," "5.1 Surround Sound," "Duttakes" (I think this was supposed to read "Outtakes." Also the listed Chinese (Hong Kong)" and "Chinese (Taiwan)" subtitles were also missing (I sometimes like to read foreign language subtitles or listen to the foreign language tracks to better pronounce other languages). Some of the episodes pointed to a black screen on a constant 1 second loop, instead of the main menu at the end. Finally, Some of the plastic DVD sleeves were torn.
I bought these DVDs, because the set was not yet available for the US. Also, the reviews from various sites said these were the same as the officially released BBC DVDs; the only difference was the packaging for China.
I wasted nearly $70 (including shipping). As I told the OBD, it appeared as though someone copied the original DVDs, then stripped them of their special features in order to squeeze the episodes onto each disc. The menus were unchanged, so the "Special Features" button was available, but it had no data to which to point.
Stay away from OKBuyDVD.com. If you just can't resist the prices, at least be aware that the DVDs are likely stripped bootlegs. Also, I would avoid any of the Doctor Who 22 DVD box sets for sale.
