I just used CarHistory.us.org to get a car history report on a vehicle we are selling.  The site, after taking my basic information, sent me through to OnlineReportAccess.com.  This site asked for my basic and credit card information to take my $1 fee.

It asked if I would like to create an account and pay the yearly fee, and I declined.  I only needed one report, not multiple.  15 minutes after starting the process, providing information, and waiting for the search to process, I got a report that had all incorrect information.  It did not have correct owner, mileage, insurance claim information (which was what I was looking for to provide to a new buyer).

I clicked on the button to speak with a customer service representative, and was given Zoe.  I told her that none of their information was correct, and she asked for my information again so they could search it again.

While waiting for her to send my information to their manager, Brian Thompson, I searched the company on the internet and found many complaints of bogus charges for $18.95 when they advertised charging $1.

So, when Zoe came back, I asked her about it.  I asked her to verify how much I had been charged.  Yep, $18.95!  She said that when purchasing the report for $1, I signed up for the $18.95 payment plan, which I CERTAINLY did NOT.

I asked her how to get my money refunded, and she said that she would close my account and voide the REMAINING charges.  I replied that none of ther report information was even correct, and that I wanted my account closed and ALL of the charges refunded.

She was "gone" for a couple of minutes, and when she came back, she said that she had issued me a refund, gave me a confirmation number, and said it would take 2-3 business days to show up on my statement.  At the end of the chat session, it asked me to "click here" to finalize my request.  So, I did.  I was taken to another website that asked for my information to process my refund.

Assuming that she only processed my request for a refund, I filled out my information again, in hopes that it would actually process my refund.  When that request was complete, it took me to yet another website.  At that point, I just closed my browser.  If the refund has not yet happened, I will call the customer service number (as many other unhappy customers have done to get their refunds), 302-367-7159.

Even if I get the $18.95 refund of charges that I never agreed to, they still have my credit card information.  I am now going to call the credit card to protest the charges and put a watch on my card.  Stay away from these companies!
