Onrebate comonrebate.com Tiger Direct ripoff of rebate offer on software from Tiger Direct Miami Florida
I was offered a "deal" from Tiger Direct on a bundled software package from Computer Associates. The cost was $90. and there were two rebates, one for $40. and the other for $50. Essentially, 2 programs for "free" only a small shipping charge.
After software arrived I began the process of filling out the forms. This proved a very difficult task and after many frustrating attempts, I called onrebate. I was instructed on how to complete the forms. At that time, as one of the "requirements" was a UPC code, I told the rep that there was no UPC code on either of the boxes and he told me to make a copy of one of their or Tiger's forms and send it in and that would be fine.
The material to be sent in was pretty amazing, including the need to cut and past the address (physically) onto an envelope. That reguired making 2 copies of their paperwork as the address would not print on one side of a sheet but separated regardless of printing format.
Nevertheless I followed the instructions and submitted all the material, incuding the copy of the form that listed what was to serve as the UPC code.
Today, I received an email and followed the links to find that the rebate was denied due to no UPC code. I called, waited 10-15 minutes, got a person who without asking for a tracking number started to explain that there was a UPC code and then his line cut me off.
I called back and after about a 35 minute hold got a person who asked for the tracking code, told me that without a UPC code they could not process rebate. I explained, as noted above, that there was no code and that I had done as instructed. He put me on hold, came back and told me they could go the "archives" and check to see if I sent in the code, but if I didn't, no rebate. I started in again and he hung up.
