I have read the other complaints about Onyx on this site and all I can say is I FEEL YOUR PAIN.

About the end of 1999 (If I am remembering correctly) I purchaced a 1990 Ford Thunderbird from a local new car dealership. Within 4 months of the purchase I was putting out money, hand over fist, on this car. Not the dealerships fault, it is after all a USED car. I explained to Onyx that I was having to pay $3,400.00 to get the car fixed. In the begining they were OK. I was running a month behind. I was making a full payment, on or right before a second one come due. I made an arrangement over the phone to have a payment taken out of my checking account on OCTOBER 1, 2000.

I asked them PLEASE not earlier. They deposited and the money came out on SEPTEMBER 30, 2000 And bounced my checking account over $300.00. When I called them to asked them about this, MIKE ? opligized and agreed to credit my car payments by $300.00. So the payment that overdrew the account paid for September. The $300.00 should have covered October and November. So In December I sent them a payment, and on January 11, 2001 they repo'd my car. The 1st call I made was to the local police, they told me the call had been picked up. So then I call Onyx, they tell me that they did request it to be repo'd. So after 2 days of phone calls, I found out that my account was never credited the $300.00.

When I made the payment in December it went to Octobers payment and was used to CONFIRM my address so they could pick the car up. They said I would have to pay over $2000.00 to get the car back PLUS find away to pick it up in a town 4 HOURS away from my house. So after I made arrangements for someone to watch my kids (carseats were in the car) I drove down to get my personals out of the car. I was told over the phone if I took the repo company my key, they would let me get my personals out. So after driving 4 hours we finally find the place. We go into the office to let them know that we were there and would be cleaning out the car (seatting out on an UNGUARDED lot), they asked for the key. I showed him the key, and told him I would need it to unlock the door. He then asks for $25 storage fee.

I asked what the fee was for, because the car has not been stored, it's just sitting out in a business parking space. His reply was that he pays local policemen to watch the lot. I told him he never told me about a fee when I called, and we only brought emergancy gas money. We had to refuse to give him the key before he would let us get our things. Of course the little bit of cash I had in the car was gone, and the armrest and dashboard had been gone through.

I let that go. But the thing that REALLY gets my goat is that I am paying a collection agancy for the car, and Onyx is showing on my credit 3 TIMES. I have only had 1 account with them. 1 report shows an open account. 1 shows a repossessed account, and one shows a charged off account. They CLAIM that we I pay the account off it will show as a PAID IN FULL REPOSSESSION! I guess I'll find out in a few months.

My suggestion is: If you can get out, GET OUT NOW! Get as far away from them as possible. OR

IF you have already been repo'd let them turn you over to the collection agency and pay them they are MUCH nicer and will work with you 100%. But do note IF YOUR CAR IS REPO"D YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REMAINIG BALANCE AFTER THEY SALE YOUR CAR AT AUCTION, AND THE AMOUNT THEY GET IS VERY LOW.

Good Luck....... your gonna need it!

this story is disturbing due to the fact that NO COMPANY WILL CREDIT YOU A FUKLL MONTHS PAYMENT FOR AN OVERDRAFT. In real life & i have had this happen to an account i worked on, it is a computer glich with western union ( we don't use them anymore. what we do is req that the customer sendd in a bank statement showing the overdrafted amount 7 any chek that bounced due to the onver draft - that money we refund to the customer. Why would we credit 300.00 to the account when they only got charged $30.00 OVD. The customer stated in her own words: "I was running a month behind. I was making a full payment, on or right before a second one come due." What this would mean isa that when she made a payment for 10/1/2000 it would have covered septembers bill. I still don't believe a rep stated we would credit her 300.00 after we received 300.00. But if it was credited she would have on 10/1/2000 been current. how come the next payment wasn't received until december? that means that november was never paid. So in december she was two months delq. After the december payment november would have been paid - but she still would have owed decembers payment. Now three things haven't been taken into account. 1. If an arrangment is made that only stops the repo of the vehicle it doesn't excuse late fees. 2. If an account is continually 30 - 60 or 90 days delq we will repo the vehicle due to the depriciation of the vehicle. 3.we are not responsible if you bought a lemon - your fight should be with the dealership or yourself for not investigating the auto. Onyx Acceptance is NOT IN THE CAR BUSINESS- we are in the MONEY LOANING BUSINESS. When a car is repo'd a repo fee must be paid to the repo agent. In your dealership auto contract you sign that you will be responsible for any fees associated with the collection of monies due. I would access that the 2000.00 was in part all the late fees & the past dfue amount plus the repo fee. As for the 25.00 fee??? this is strange. Yes you are responsible for the repo fee & the storage fee, but I've never heard of that situation. That is suspect. Not that it may not have been true - it's just strange. As for the 3 reports on the creidt. To anyone that knows how to read a credit report that listing is not strange. You will have one with the full account number. Another will show the charge off & the final will show the repossesion. When the account is finally paid off or disharged in a bankruptcy the reading will show. PAID IN FULL REPOSSESSION! or CHAPTER 7 BANKRUPTCY DISCHARGED (PAID IN FULL - IF PAID IN FULL) mY SUGGESTIONIS THAT YOU REALLY PAY YOUR BILL ON TIME. KEEP TRACK OF YOUR OWNRECORDS. INVESTIGATE THE CAR YOU WANT TO PURCHASE & DON'T SIGN CONTRACTS YOU HAVEN'T READ!!! In the end Misty doesn't seem to have read her contract nor investigated the auto - which in the end is her fault.
