Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Pay: They pay you whatever they can get away with. They like to hire fresh collage graduates and pay them so low it's emberrasing, but employee does not know any better.

Respect: None! The President of the company harasses employees behind their back and sometimes to their faces. He hires his friends to management jobs who do the same. Fellow co-works sexually harass each other all day and HR does very little. No EEOC training. NONE!

Benefits: The absolute minimum that allow the company to say they have good benefits. Every year the Benefits increase by at least a few dollars. They always blame it on the employees.

Job security: None! There are no job descriptions in HR so at any given moment the President is liable to walk up and drastically change your job, for the worse, and pay to match. Do it or you're fired. They could move you from sales to shipping on a whim. No job security.

Work/Life Balance: Very poor. Some employees must work up to 30 hours of overtime or more a week otherwise you're not doing you're job. Saleried employees are paid based on 37.5 hours a week and expected to work much more...some of them for $25,000.

Career Potential/Growth: None. Each department is based on having as few people as possible to do the job. You may be moved in a lateral manner but not up. Some departments have only 1 person. Location: Not to bad, just off a major interstate.

Co-worker Competence: They hire anyone willing to do the job even without any experience or qualifications...you'll learn on the job! Works great for factory work (hammer this then put it here and repeat), but sales management? Not too well.

Work Environment: Normal harassment and sexual harassment are rampant and almost nothig is done. The company has been around 6 years and then only thing done about swearing...a single e-mail only to the sales department in the last few weeks. On a daily basis loud swears can be hard all over the company and are sent through e-mails. Sales managers get away with harassment that should get the company sued and the employee immediately fired. Lucky they're still in business. The sales manager plays favorites with the sales department. Certain sales people he tells 'no' about everything and certain people tell him what to do on a daily basis. Other managers also play favorites. Managers get their friends and family hired and play favorites with them at the expense of other employees. Certain managers are supervising their own family members and obviously favorites are played. Promotions are handed out to the first person who the manager sees after the position becomes available. I guess this is sort of, but not completely representative of the tradeshow industry. Stay from the insdustry. This company is an EXTREMELY blu ecollar office environment. If you're familiar with the beer drinking chain smoking factory workers TV seems to like to portray? They all work in the offices at Orbus Inc.

#3UPDATE EX-employee responds

In 2008 they cleaned house of the employees that made the highest salary, had an education and knew about the abuse going on in this company! (By the way, this was done when the President was in England for his annual meeting so he did not have to answer any questions as to why all these employees were being fired) The President of the company is a chauvinist and needs to have his female employees beautiful, slutty & brainless around him. The company hold an annual meeting in England as the company is based there and the beautiful, slutty brainless women are expected to attend (company pays of course) The President visits other companies in the same line of work and steals their product ideas, builds them, advertises them and then gloats about it! Orbus was sponsoring a woman from China until she wanted to become a citizen and they would have to pay her the same amount of money that the accountants made and withdrew her sponsorship. But they had no problem with using here beautiful face and Chinese style clothes to sell their inferior, made in china products in their catalogs.

I agree with whoever posted the above report. I currently work for Orbus and wow everything above is absolutely no holds barred true and more. I have seen each one of the things mentioned above personally and continue to see them on a daily basis. Orbus is a very internally corrupt company that is desperately in need of their own Serpico. The company's sales are the lowest they have ever been and major cut backs are taking place. This happens at normal companies, however, Orbus is a company of about 100 employees and has one server and maybe 50 computers at the most. They recently hired a second IT guy and have a returns department of 3 people, one of them recently hired. The original IT guy knows nothing about Macintosh or Microsoft Office. Microsoft Outlook is the e-mail program the company uses. The New IT guy knows everything the original does and more. Why keep the original around? He talks down to people and makes sure they know he does not want to help them. Why keep him around? In returns he newest returns hire was a peon who was suposed to take the workloa fro the original returns employee. The original employee got the job because he was standing at the copier when it became available the the manager saw him, "you wan the job?" He idnt do the job as well as they would have liked so they hired a new person. Why not get rid of the original returns guy and save some money? Or does the company need three people doing it, do they have that many returns? Does the company get that many returns? Walmart has maybe three people working returns and I've personally seen one return after another all day long at that place. Low sales/massive returns what a company to work for. Maybe thy should get their heads out for their rears and realize that running a company is more involved than standing around saying "It's so cool I'm in charge of a company!" Some of the things not mentioned above: Drugs. In the warehouse many of the employees are current drug users. The forklift driver is extremely dangerous and uses drugs. He even lived in the building for a while because he has no money...from drugs? Can't be certain, but would make sense. The company hires temporary employees for minimum wage or maybe $1 more and does not pay the company they go through the extra fee or drug/background testing. They might as well get day laborers from the Home Depot parking lot. The fighting got so bad in the warehouse at one point that they had to send out a memo to instruct the employees to not fight, as if they couldn't figure hat out on their own. That shows what kind of employees are in the warehouse. One fight ended with an ambulance and another the electricity went out and immediately a knife fight started. A shame! The president...I think who may have rebutted as the owner (and he is not the owner although he 1/2 the company thinks he is) has no idea what he is doing. He knows the director of sales/marketing has no idea what he's doing, but does nothing to fix the problem. Maybe the sales need more or new direction, possibly that could be why they're low. Marketing could be used to aid the problem, but the man in charge knows nothing about marketing except that it involves pictures in magazines and elsewhere somehow. That's why the sales are low, the sales managers have no idea of what their job is or how to do it. SAD! The President started at a sister company only 2 years before he became the President of Orbus and at the sister company he was apart of the Product Development department designing products. He has no experience in management and especially none in the way of being a CEO. This is why the company prides itself in how many products it can introduce each year, the president knows nothing about management so he goes with what he knows designing new products. Jokes on them because they discontinue almost exactly the same number of products each year that they introduce. They are not expanding their product line but keeping it in a perpetual state of fluidity. Consumers buy a product and then want more and it has been discontinued, sorry you're sol. They introduce a product long enough to either make profit or brake even, sometimes not, then discontinue it before it has had it's chance to become unprofitable if it didn't start out that way. No stability. Every single product they introduce is their own modification of another company's product, as mentioned blow: Finally, Lawsuits. The company rips off other companies. They steal their designs and end up in lawsuits. One for the companies biggest product the Truss and another for some piece owned by another company (Mark Brick I believe) that holds a graphic onto a frame. The president uses phrases like "This is who we're ripping off this week." and things like that. Not only have they had patent infringement lawsuits they have had, as listed above, an Eeoc lawsuit and the company was held liable and paid a fair sum of money. Above it said the company should get sued. They have! The president sees the company as the Walmart of the trade-show industry. Kind of sad he's set his goal so low.

#6REBUTTAL Owner of company

Tue, June 24, 2008

It is extremely disappointing when one disgruntled ex-employee, who is clearly misguided and ill-informed, can concoct a fabrication of lies and exaggerations that challenge the impeccable reputation of our company. Over the last six years, Orbus has grown to become one of our industries market leaders, and it did this, in part, by generating and maintaining a supportive employee appreciation program that fosters a friendly, energetic and completey professional work environment. I would urge you not to waste your time putting any credence to these feeble minded and wholly ridiculous lies, and to treat this report as the crazed rants of a twisted and vindictive individual, who indeed was originally dismissed from Orbus for displaying temper tantrums and generally antisocial and inappropriate behavior.
