I have tried contacting ORielly Auto Parts in Sand Springs several times and talk to the store manager at that location, Mike, but he will not return my calls concerning the numerous alternators I have had replace within a time span of just a few months because they were defective.  I have even went to the store to try and talk to the manager. He is never in when I go there.  I purhcased an alternator from Orielly Auto parts initially in Pryor oklahoma, well the mechanic did who had it installed with Hughes Electric In Claremore.  I have had to repalce this Ultima Alternaor now 3 times. The cost of the labor repairs for this with the mechanics has cost me over $1000 dollars all together.  This is just the cost in labor repairs.  I can't get Mike, the mangager at Oriellys in Sand Springs to return any of my calls.  And I feel THIS is unprofessional and inappropriate conduct.   It disappoints me with having to replace the Ultima Alternator that ORiellys carrys several times and has left me nothing but unsmilingly upset and aggrevated.  The last time before I purchased a new alternator from Napa, as soon as the mechanic at Keystone Garage, put the alternator in, it was bad.

I researched the product Ultima and countless hits off the internet came back with complaints about people saying beware don't buy alternators, starters etc from Orielly auto Parts.  How O'Riellys  company cancarry a product which they should know by now from all the complaints I have reviewed on the internet is second rate, is beyond me.  I am the one stuck with the huge charges with mechanic bills for replacing the alternators.

I wasn't going to take another chance and have another alternator from Ultima that Oriellys carries put in my car so I purchased a brand new one from Napa and the car is running just fine now.  I don't understand why the O'Rielly store manager at Sand Springs in Oklahoma will not return my calls.   I have not been rude and inappropriate in any way to give him the excuse to refuse to call me.  I don't have the original.

I would appreciate returning this last alternator that was bad from the start and would like a refund for it.  I know its a long shot trying to ask for compensation for all the monetary cost of labor putting these faulty low grade alternators in my car but I feel O'Rielly Automotive company should help with a percentage of that cost, I would be very grateful that they would do the honest and polite thing by helping me absorb that cost also.  Needless to say, i am very disappointed with my experience from Orielly auto parts concerning the purchase of the alternator and the replacements that were bad.  This has been a serious nightmare of a purchase. pass this on to who ever has had problems with O'Riellys about issues like this.

If you are planning on buying a product like this from O'Riellys, go somewhere else.  Do your research Like I should have done in the first place concerning these Automotive Retail part stores and their products they carry.

I would appreciate a little consideration concerning this matter and would appreciate o'Riellys Automotive company standing behind its statement of customer satisfaction. This has been a night mare for me and being on disability it has also been a major cost that has been extremely difficult for me to handle.   Bruce From Tulsa, Sand Springs Area.

I have to say that I contacted the district manager got the situation all under control. And was even comphensated for a large percentage of the repair costs for installing all the cars. Even though the last alternator I purchased was brand new, not refurbished, the car ran very well after the last installation ot the new alternator. The district manager was very helpful understanding and worked with me to provide a positive outcome.

This isn't the store managers problem in my opinion. I have used this alternators in a couple of my vehicles and haven't had a problem with them and they carry a manufactures lifetime warranty which is great for me considering I can put it in myself.

How do you know your battery doesn't have a short or a bad connection that could be killing the alternator? Amps and subs that are drawing too much power can also cause this problem, if so battery caps or buying a heavy duty and higher amperage alternators can solve this problem. Id bet since you've blown 4 total alternators its not the brand its your car. Naturally the mechanic probably won't tell you this unless you inquire because by the numbers you provided he's getting $333 a pop for installing your starters which is an hour project max for an experienced mechanic.

This should be a lesson if you don't work on your own cars! If your paying for labor don't buy the cheapest product on the market. Either buy from the manufacturer or buy from some of the higher end products. For those who work on their own vehicles buy the cheaper product if it provides a lifetime warranty. The only time I bought a faulty part from Checker/O'Reilly was a fuel pump that lasted only a couple months. Most shops will only install manufacturer fuel pumps for this reason, the labor is so extensive you don't want a rebuilt unit you want whatever is the best on the market.

Update on store #353 District Manager

#4Author of original report

Fri, July 27, 2012

Today, I went into the store and talked to the district manager at store #353.  I sincerely feel Scott, the district manager, understood my frustration concerning having to replace my alternator several times in a very short period of time.

He gave me a full refund on the alternator I purchased from O'Rielly's.

I do have to honestly say, when a customer leaves a message with the store manager a number of times, it would be a courteous gesture to return the costumers call instead of making the customer feel like they are being ignored.

I am now waiting on the claim made to Ultima Parts concerning the grievous amount of money I spent on having the alternator professionally installed.

I do hope that the true courageous decision to help me with the labor is determined valid and they reimburse me for the large amount of money I spent on replacing all these alternators.  Wait and see time.
