Orphek LED Lighting is now a complete ripoff.  I am a local fish store owner (remaining anonymous to protect my business) that, after weeks of research and communication with Orphek's US rep decided to stock Orphek PR-156 and Orphek PR-25 LED lights in my store.  Orphek required an order of 2 PR-156 lights (My cost was $600 each, MSRP was $849) and 6x PR-25 (My cost was $79 each, MSRP was $129) making the total order nearly $2000 which is, needless to stay, a steep price for a new company/product.  However, I was interested in the technology, and took the plunge.

Well, where to being?  Orphek took nearly 5 weeks to fill the order (that I was required to pay for in advance).  Apparently the owner is so sure of his products that he keeps a large stock...not.  Even the owner (ofir, as I found out) apparently doesn't have enough faith in his own products/company to have a ready-to-ship supply of LED lights.  Hmm....

Finally, after over a month of waiting, the order comes in, only to have Orphek basically fall to shambles around me: internet drama, accusations of lying and poor/unethical business practices, and more began to plague the company's reputation online. 

Normally I don't give a dang about drama, as we all know (or at least those of us on the professional end) that aquarists generally behave like 2 year olds.  However, unfortunately a lot of this seems to be true, and Orphek LED Lighting appears to be on it's last leg:  there is no longer a phone number for the company, all my emails are answered only by Ofir (the owner) in what he probably considers english but looks like a chinese product manual (aka unreadable).

Now I'm left with nearly $2000 worth of product that won't sell from a company that's probably going to be out of business in the next few months, leaving me with no one to honor the warranty.  In fact, I can't even sell this to my customers at full price without feeling like a scammer, so I'm having to let it go at cost, as-is! 

I will no longer supply/support Orphek lighting or their LED products.

Quite a neat PR post there.  Too bad there is no truth to it, or even a phone number.  Anyone can register a domain, set up an email address (that they do not answer) and resell some chinese lights, ripping off and scamming people in the process.

Maybe if you had a legitimate business you wouldn't need to post pages and pages trying to defend your reputation on a consumer report site dedicated to stopping orphek scams!

SO, ANSWERING TO ALL FALSE STATEMENTS AGAINST OUR COMPANY:

We do a pre - scan via e-mail of all inquires, like every large, modern & international company does these days. Although we don't have currently a call center, we answer to every inquire, and according to our standard procedures, a local assistant will contact the customer personally, if necessary or requested by client. Many clients have spoken to us over the phone - as stated in many of these rebuttals.

We have already answer to his bashing postings before:
"We were never contacted by this supposed client and although we have gathered enough evidence that this is a fictitious persona, with the systematically clear intention to harm our image for his own personal joy or reasons.  We are still giving the opportunity to stand forward and really solve this problem, if there was ever one, by contacting [email protected]"

We want to point out the fact that, TILL THIS DATE, this alleged consumer did not and still refrains to contact the company for one simple reason: he is not a real client. He is, as stated before A SIMPLE BASHER. Instead of contacting the company, this person keeps posting and reposting bashing reports.

As per the negative press mentioned by him on various sites:

It has been already stated that this is the same person using web tools to spread bashing comments - same comments, with different names, but in the same dates. Basher simply takes under consideration that consumers here have no knowledge of these illegal methods.

This also answers to comment 5 - "A search of "orphek scam" or "is orphek a scam" reveals hundreds of complaints!"  Yes, we know already that using keywords to spread bashing with internet tools is your alleged expertise. You are just inserting advertising of your crimes here.

Both Libel and Bashing are considered crimes even when performed via Internet anonymously (or using a false name), and it can be subjected to both Criminal and Civil Lawsuits.

As per issues concerning the language skills of Orphek personnel - It is obviously not necessary to address to them, since we are clearly responding here in English, and many REAL CLIENTS have stated that this is simply untrue. Seems even ridiculously redundant. 

In the same opportunity we would like to state that the companys disclaimer is a standard disclaimer for all companies selling products via Internet, valid for all the countries we do business with, including the USA. 

Orphek's headquarters is in Brazil. The country is the sixth biggest economy today, and to become the fifth till the end of 2012, overtaking both economies of France and the UK. That said:

1. Mr. AlexS has not been reading the papers since 1975 - when the term "first world country" was created. Nor does he fully understand the meaning of a term that goes back at least 37 years.

2. Our company provides local support in the USA, when a REAL client needs it.

And finally, addressing to all consumers:

Our company ships from our facilities in Hong Kong. We also ship locally inside the USA. So does the following well known international companies:

NIKE, APPLE, SONY, SAMSUNG, ADIDAS, etc...

The defamation of Orphek by only 2 people on 2 different sites goes to show that these are completely false accusations on Orphek. 

Not only do they not have truthful, valid points, the only issue they seem to have is the language barrier (which isn't that much of a barrier at all). 

Not only DOES Orphek have a US telephone number, my personal light shipped from Indianapolis, IN!  Now as I recall from Geography, that's in the United States of AMERICA. These claims are far from truth and downright absurd! Here's an example of people trying to get something they didn't earn or deserve! It's not hard to be honest and have some integrity, I'm glad I don't have to live in their skin.

Take a gander at this site, in which you'll find that there is nothing new being said and is purely there for defamation purposes.

I hope this helps and as a die-hard aquarium and LED enthusiast Orphek should be your standard in lighting...they are superior in every way and provide proper lighting for growth and beauty! Orphek lighting, no question about it, stands alone in making the BEST lighting for your home/business aquarium which promotes more growth than ANY other LED on the market. 

Don't get caught up in the mess and use the best! Orphek!

As a proud Orphek customer I have NEVER had any issues with contacting Orphek, in fact Ofir and Simone THEMSELVES are kind enough, proud enough and confident enough of their products to stand by them and answer their customers PERSONALLY. Please find me any other LED or aquarium product manufacturer that is pleased to do this and so pleased that they always respond within 24 hours. Orphek is far from a scam, if anything these reports are a scam...it's the same person bashing this company because they have nothing better to do and are more than likely getting paid to bash this company. Get a life. If all LED companies cared this much about what their lights put out then I can almost guarantee that those companies would too be bashed. Don't blame another company for putting out a far superior product when THEY themselves cannot put out such a great product. If your only complain is that they do not speak perfect English (which, as we all know, not even AMERICAN'S care to speak perfect English these days) then you should really think twice about your comprehension. I've had absolutely no issues understanding Ofir, and he is more helpful than any company owner I have ever met in my entire life! Not only has he and Orphek helped me get my reef tank situated, he helped me figure out exactly what type of lighting I would need for my coral and fish to thrive in the environment I've made for them. Orphek has nothing but respect and love for this hobby and would never go out of their way to make a customer unhappy. If you truly have an issue with this company, feel free to e-mail me personally and I'll try to make sense of what you don't seem to understand. This company has done more for the aquarium lighting aspect than ANY other LED company.

My name is Moshe and I represent Orphek in ISRAEL.

I don't hide my real name like those that try (not for the first time) to bash Orphek.

I use Orphek PR-156W LED lighting over my 220G reef tank for the last 14 months and I am very satisfied with the results.

I fully agree with this:

Let the numbers do all the talking...Orphek is vastly superior to every other LED company out there! Do your homework before you decide to bash a company for no reason."

I think that there shoud be some restrictions to false accusations and the site should not let those people the possibilities to write just in their pathetic tries to stop the success of Orphek througout the world.

Orphek has gone through a lot of trouble to respond to all of the negative press on the various sites (ripoffreport, here, scamreports, and others), yet they never address a few basic principles:

1) YOU CANNOT REACH ORPHEK BY TELEPHONE.  TRY IT YOURSELF.  (alarm bells, anyone?)
2) Orphek bills itself as an "international" company, which isn't true, they merely sell internationally out of their hong kong factory, just like ever other LED light maker
3) Orphek has a completely BS, bogus, and illegal (in the usa) disclaimer on their website, basically trying to make themselves immune to any/everything.  Why do this if they're legit?  
4) Orphek has no headquarters in any first world country.  No address.  No telephone number.  Nothing.  
5) A search of "orphek scam" or "is orphek a scam" reveals hundreds of complaints!
6) Why would Orphek have so much bad press if they were a legit company that didn't lie about who they are and refuse to provide contact information (or even speak decent english?!)

To me it sounds like you got a hell of a deal and just feel the need to complain. So far I haven't read anything in this report that says the products are inferior, it seems to me that the owner of this so called fish store owner is the one that is inferior. As a store owner you should know more about what you buy and I'm sure you already know that it's very rare to actually have the owner of a company respond to you, that's what I call superior customer service. Orphek makes their lights with superior products developed by Orphek, they're not some cheap China cree manufacturer! 

As far as being able to understand Ofir, it can be a little difficult at times but you have to be a moron to not understand what he's saying.

Orphek is not a Chinese company; we are proudly an international company spanning many countries and nationalities. We have an online Center for Technical Support, answering to enquires from all over the world, including local support in Canada, USA, Israel, Switzerland, Dubai, Brazil and UK. 

Not only that, distributors, retailers and shop owners carrying our products are required to hold a minimum stock of units/parts for replacement if needed.   Our clients are definitely our most important assets, therefore we take many measures to ensure they will be assisted immediately.

Ware 100% committed to their satisfaction. We invest in customer assistance efficiency because our clients have real value! Our relationship with our clients is so good in fact, that they are often proud to provide us amazing images of their tank for display in our gallery page in our website. Our customers/resellers sent us most of photos displayed in our gallery, with our lights over their tanks.

We would also like to clarify that we havent sold our solutions to this  alleged reseller for the price stated in this anonymous bashing; therefore it should not be taken seriously.

Also regarding this alleged purchaser, we advise to all consumers evaluating to purchase our products, or ANY other LED lighting product, that anonymous bashing should not be taken under consideration.

Someone who is really not satisfied with a purchase of any kind, and has the good will of helping others, does not hide himself under an anonymous signature.

Also we would like to state in this opportunity that our company does not endorse, and in fact finds it very offensive, that anonymous uses a website such as Ripoff to states things such as this:

This type of comment really shows that this person could not hold a real business. A professional  businessman would never state in public that people, or his clients (aka aquarists), behave like children at the age of 2. Not only that, he also suggests that all others in this professional business (fish stores) think the same way he does.

Even if this was a real reseller, if he does not succeed to sell our products, he is probably the only one in the LED lighting business. it is very easy to blame other people for the lack of professionalism and skills to sell to others. By this type of public statement against aquarists (that are the ones buying from fish stores) it became clear to us, and probably to all consumers reading this, why he is not selling our products or ANY other product.
