I can in no way review the quality of work from Outlaw Photography, he may in fact be a very talented photographer.

That being said, any photographer who displays awards and recognition from the "International Library of Photography" should know one thing: this organization merely solicits photographers to pay a fee in order to receive an "award". Everybody who pays the fee will receive an award, it's like paying someone to write a glowing testimonial for you.

The "International Library of Photography" is a well-known scam, in fact you can look up the many posts here in badbusinessbureau.com . Whether or not Outlaw Photography is aware of this is unknkown to me. I point this out due to the high # of scams related to model photographers, as I am the father of a girl who was swindled (not by Outlaw Photography). What anyone interested in photography services should do is:

-ask to see a thorough portfolio, showing photos produced with the exact equipment (camera, lighting, props, etc) that will be used in your shoot.

Look at the "award"... it's a fake!

On the Outlaw Photography website ( outlawphotography.com ), if you click to enlarge his "award" trophy, it is clearly a photo of a trophy with his name and the date PHOTOSHOPPED in to appear that the plaque is for him.  Just go and take a look, it's a really lousy photoshop job too.  Go to outlawphotography.com, click on the 'recognition' link, and enlarge the photo of his fake trophy.  Look closely at the plaque, then pick your head up off the ground after it fell off from laughing so hard.

It's bad enough that he's using these phony "awards" to try to gain recognition in spite of the fact that anyone who pays their fee gets the "award", but he's actually displaying photographs of a trophy clearly altered to display his name and the year?  On a "professional" photography site?

I.M. Outlaw of Withee, WI should be ashamed of himself for perpetrating this scam.

Again:  Aspiring models PLEASE beware of any so-called "professional" photographers who use these tactics to try to get you to pay them to make you into a model.

The man who touts those "awards" won't be reasoned with. Do you know who this man is? He found himself in interesting circumstances when he made some colorful remarks about City Hall about thirteen years ago. We'll leave it at that for now.

OutlawPhotography.COM - Withee, WI is the scammer

#4Author of original report

Tue, January 27, 2009

This report was directed at outlawphotography.com in Withee, WI, the photographer calling himself I.M. Outlaw. My concern with Outlaw Photography is that he knowingly misleads aspiring models in a vulnerable position using these 'International Society of Photographers' and 'International Library of Photography' awards (see above) as the centerpiece of his marketing and website. Both the 'International Society of Photographers' and the 'International Library of Photography' are a well-known marketing ploy. The "awards" are given to anyone who is desperate enough to purchase this "recognition". Anyone who submits photos to any amateur photo upload site gets the offer to buy a trophy, or buy a ticket to the "award ceremony", or buy any assortment of "honors" such as getting their name in a book. Think about it folks.... since when does a person being honored with an award have to buy the award? What kind of talent has to purchase proof of recognition? Aspiring models BEWARE of any photographer who uses awards from either the ISP or ILP to market themselves... IM Outlaw has big boldface notes all over his website touting 'Three Time International Award Winner'.... So, before you give any freelance photographer your money and your trust when being impressed with his "awards", look into how one goes about receiving these "honors". Good luck with your futures!

my mistake my posts were misdirected anger that should have centered on ILP and ISP. it was a mistake to single out outlaw photography. aside from my rants about ILP and ISP, there are only positive remarks and feedback about outlaw photography that can be found online or anywhere that can be seen. my posts were indeed judgemental, i wish to take it all back.

Outlaw still manipulating you with phony awards

#7Author of original report

Mon, March 03, 2008

Note on the website that Outlaw Photography has in his "recognition" a picture of his "trophy". With one glance, you can see that the photo is clearly altered, it's a total fake. Apparently he did not pay the extra charge to get a "trophy", he only paid enough for them to photoshop a stock photo of a trophy, photoshopping a "plaque" on it with Outlaw's name. Consumers and aspiring models, take caution, this photographer is still displaying his "awards" from ISP and ILP as proof of "recognition". Read previous posts and read how the Int'l Society of Photographers and the ILP solicit the "awards" to literally anyone who posts photos in amateur photo submission sites. Anyone who pays gets the "award". Be very wary of any photographer who goes to these lengths to create an illusion of "recognition". Real recognition and genuine awards are not purchased, and honest photographers do not require faked photographs of phony trophies to lure customers.

Outlaw Photography: did you read my posts?

#9Author of original report

Mon, January 29, 2007

Clearly anonymity is afforded to me for my protection, enabling me to voice my concerns without fear of retribution from an indignant vendetta. By now, you must have done your due diligence and research and found the basis of my complaint to be true, by looking up the international society of photographers or the international library of photography on any search engine. My hope is that aspiring models are enlightened to the nature of the awards that are solicited by ISP and ILP, and then displayed by photographers such as Outlaw Photography to prove that they have been "recognized". They are not proof of talent or professionalism, they are only the result of a brilliant marketing method inspiring photographers to pay to see their name on a trophy or in a book. Any credible photographer or talent agent would warn about the nature of these awards, and how they can be used by the "recipient" to mislead aspiring models who are often in a very vulnerable position. Please re-read my original posts outlaw photography, before claiming defamation, harrassment, threats of bodily harm, etc.

I worked with Outlaw photographer and his work is substantially award winning. I have been modeling for years and no one elses work even compares. His work is honest unlike many photographers out there today. He shows you the true meaning of what it feels to be perfect even though you may feel you are less then a super model. The education he taught me about modeling and photographer is something to be remembered. Not only was I taught to write my own contracts but to protect myself from those perverted photographers who thinks sex sells and trys to exploit young models who are new to the modeling business. I reccommend working with Outlaw, he is safe and extremely knowledgeable. I challenge any model working now to work with him and compare your current pictures with his, then you'll know why the awards. If you are one to not believe in the awards(which is your choice)after seeing your photos it will bring tears to your eyes like it did me and you'll wonder why did I not work with him first. Lets not judge those and what we don't know! As God knows the truth and he has judged your judgement and knows EXACTLY who you are!

Are you the same Anonymous that sent threatening email to me for the period of nearly a year.... over and over again, threat after threat ....anonymously? Threatening email that attempted blackmail, that threatened and admitted stalking, that threatened to shut down Outlaw Photography, and that threatened bodily injury? As I was injured as described in detail, and this clearly shows an attempt to "shut down Outlaw Photography". Further more, ISP holds a convention every year, this year in Las Vegas, where the Photographer of the year, selected out of the earlier award winners will receive $10,000. I know one of the speakers at the convention for this year. He himself is an award winning photographer. The purposes for ISP and ILP is to help photographers gain recognition for their work. It seems to have worked well as all kinds of people seem to be paying attention to my work now. Look at the great spot I have in the search engines because of this Rip Off Site! Thank you all very much!!! :) I am honored each time anyone acknowledges my work in a respectful fashion. It would be very disrespectful not to thank these people, by acknowledging them, in return. And please note, my awards are for landscapes so that can hardly be misleading to models. *LOL* So the only RIP OFF out here seems to be this site and the posts which clearrly appear as if they could be initiated by a known stalker/criminal. God Bless

They should call it that. Actually when I was in school I got the letter from them (the whos who) saying that I had been nominated. Lol I had no higher than Cs and Ds at that time. I couldn't believe it. You see the reports on here all the time. Not only can this company not send out the books on time or at all... but what is the point? It means absolutely nothing!!! Who are you going to show? Ohhh look my kids in this book...well it means he did really good in school and they recognized them...uh well the whos who company. I don't really even know who they are. Wow sounds great...I really wish people would stop falling for it. I know you are proud of your kids and all, and it is an ego boost. But if your kid needs a book with his name in it so he will keep working hard...well you are missing something. Hey Chris, I'm in Guadalupe.

There's a difference between an actual award, awarded by a trade association or similar group, and an "award" handed out by a marketing company with a name that sounds like a legitimate group. Anyone can hang these "awards" on their wall and hope that people think they're real. You very well might be a good photographer, even award-winning, but shame on you for wanting people to think that it's a real award. It's just like the mailers I keep getting inviting me to - for a fee - put my kids in the U.S. High School Students Who's Who (or something to that effect). They aren't really being awarded nor recognized for anything; however, if I pay the required amount, they're listed. It should be called The Who's Who of High School Students Whose Parents Are Stupid Enough to Pay Us Money!

There is no "rip-off" in my work. It is not misleading to models in any way. You should read my website(every page), complete with the comments/testimonials from models who have worked here (look in the public preview section). I received the awards as stated at my website. At no time has anything been misrepresented on my part. I did not buy them or pay anything for any of them, as Anonymous inaccurately states in his post(s). The writer who has to hide behind "Anonymous" is simply misrepresenting the facts. Now I know why ethical news media/papers/sites, and the Better Business Bureau require the authors real and true name. I respectfully suggest that the same rules of ethics and law should be applied to this site as well. God Bless, Outlaw Photography I.M. Outlaw

Well-intentioned warning

Both the "International Society of Photographers" and the "International Library of Photography" are well-known. Photographers are mass-mailed by the thousands after they submit photos to any amateur photo sites (like picture.com), to indicate that they have been chosen, etc etc, and if they just pay $XXX they will receive an award or get their photo published. It is a completely legitimate and a BRILLIANT marketing model, not to mention quite an ego-tickle for the photographer. Anyone interested will find news reports, photography blogs, and more devoted to educating the unaware photographers who are solicited with these "awards". Similar schemes exist in the art, poetry, and invention realms as well, surprise. My concern with Outlaw Photography is that he already knows this, and still uses these awards as the centerpiece of his marketing and website, which is misleading to his market. Again, he may very well be a talented photographer. But he is misleading aspiring models, who are in a vulnerable position.

The awards come in the POSTAL MAIL. You have to buy nothing unless you want the trophy. The International Library of Photography is listed in the Library of Congress, I have searched it. Plus, there are two other International Awards, that came in the Postal Mail, from a different source. I assume this reporter is ill informed, having never received an award he wouldn't know. Is it possible this is a jealous competitor using your site as a means to compete? Simple Mud Slinging? Finally, he has just defamed my company Internationally. The awards are real! The damages to my company are real. If this individual wanted to report a scam, and he believes the International Library of Photography is a scam, then I suggest he make a rip off report against the International Library of Photography and get my name out of his rip off post. I suggest he do it immediately! I demand this post be removed from your site and all search engines at once. By the way, you notice this was a annonymous report.
