I contracted 8/26/2013 with Pacific Coast Re-Bath owned and operated by Mike Storms, 813 E. Ventura Blvd. in Oxnard CA 805-485-5888 to remodel the shower in my mother's Master Bathroom. The salesman correctly marked "white marble" on the contract, and also promised that the company is famous for their "no-seam" finish where the four DuraBath shower walls connect.

We waited until October 16th for the installation. I personally made a visit to my mother’s home on the day of the installation and the laborer was busy at that time installing the plumbing. I made sure there was a check written for the balance when the job got finished and then I left. The next day, I came again to inspect the new shower and found that the walls were plain white, not white marble like the contract stated. The seamless white smooth calking ran out after only a small portion of the finish and the laborer used an off-white, porous grout which has since split and exposed cracks allowing water into the walls of my mother’s home. I called the company immediately to complain and spoke with Doreen, who asked for photos. I immediately sent them, and she acknowledged receipt. Then I waited to see exactly when or what they would do to rectify this poor service.

Nothing. I finally complained to the Better Business Bureau on 12/3/13. I received a call from the company the very next business day promising prompt action and so I selected “satisfied” on the BBB response form and explained we needed to “wait and see” the results of their promise…  I waited but the BBB did not, and they immediately closed the complaint as “resolved satisfactorily”!

Re-Bath Re-Sent the first installer, Rodney, on December 18th.  He had barely arrived before telling me sheepishly that he had the wrong sizes of wall material that day and could not do the job.  I was understanding with Rodney although I could not believe that the guy who first did the job did not know or have a record of what he needed to fix this job! I blame poor management.  Rodney became “sick” and could not return to finish the job the next week…

Almost a month later, on January 17th, the next installer arrived, Chad, and quickly told me he did not have enough walls to do the job.  Again, I blame poor management.

Chad then rescheduled to come back the next week as he was “open all week”.  The following work dates were scheduled then summarily cancelled each and every day: January 21st, 23rd, and the 24th.  Each excuse got more ridiculous.  The last one was that he got a flat tire; he then told me maybe he could come that afternoon.

I told him that would be preferable.  He then complained that he would be there until 6 or 7 pm and would call me back that day to let me know.  He never did.  The next week, this week in fact, he called and left a message telling me that he “might” have Thursday open.  Tired of dealing with the workers who appear to be running this company I called the office and asked to speak with the owner, and was given the run-around and promises they’d have the “district manager” or some such give me a call.

At this point I just want a refund; to date, almost three and a half months and $2950 later, my 91-year-old mother still has the wrong shower and the thing leaks water into the walls.  Oh, and I must also mention that the soap dish looks to be coming detached from the awesome DuraBath wall material…

I intend to file this report and send a copy to the company.  Just give us a refund: we’ll accept the all white finish and re-caulk it ourselves!

Pacific Coast Re-Bath owned and operated by Mike Storms, 813 E. Ventura Blvd. in Oxnard, CA is a very poorly managed business not worthy of your hard-earned dollars.  DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PACIFIC COAST RE-BATH IN OXNARD, CA.

Refund NOT Received - More Games Played by Pacific Coast ReBath

After a very long process and a revised agreement with the Pacific Coast ReBath Company which we fulfilled, the company has refused to simply send us our refund check unless we provide one more thing still and work with them to amend our original report here on this Website, not truthfully as we have done, but in a way that they feel would be more "helpful" to their company image.

I reiterate what I've said before: this is NOT a good company to entrust with your hard earned money.  Once you sign a contract with them, they'll do you however they please, and justify it.  They are much more concerned with their image and reputation than anything that concerns you the customer.

Beware the moment they come into your home and show you their slick video presentation; that's as good as it gets because that is all they care about and that's what they do best. They certainly do not care about the customer.

RUN from Pacific Coast ReBath!

Partial Refund Promised

So far it looks like the company has been willing to work with us to come to a mutually beneficial arrangement; they appear to be willing to consider mine and my elderly mother's inconvenience and allow us to end our contractual agreement as long as we accept the white gloss finish rather than our original choice and they will give us a partial refund of $1,250.  We told them that we are willing to do so as although we had to caulk/seal the shower stall ourselves so she could bathe they did do decent plumbing work and installed new fixtures, and the white walls are a good fit.

I will update again as to whether or not we receive the promised refund check.
