 My husband 2 children and I moved into our rental about a year ago. Our first months power was thankfully paid by our land lord. Having lived on the premises for close to a month. We then transfered power into our name. It took about another month for us to recieve our first bill in the mail. Needless to say upon opening it we were blown away. Pacific power had placed a deposit on it. Having been a costomer for roughly 8 years I was confused. Especially with the exorbant amount they were requesting. Almost eight hundred dollars! Conserned with this amount and having had services in my name for an existing time. I called. I was then informed that due to the previous residents at this address I was expected to put this money down or get my services shut off. I had gone from having credit on my acount. To owing more than my monthly rent. Having just moved into a new home big enough to accomidate my growing family. Budget was tight. My son was now only just over a month. I am not afraid to say it. I threw a fit! After about an hour on the phone getting tranfered from managers and on. We were able to get the deposit into a more reasonable amount. Nearly $400.00 was owed now. I proceeded on paying as much as I could for the fallowing months. Not always on time. But just as soon as I would get the funds. Any parent understands the high demands of supporting a family. The winter months hit us hard! Our bills jumped from about $150.00 to $390.00 understandible due to the heat sorce in our home. Scraping by each month to keep the lights on. We were just barely keeping our heads above the water. We were already drowning here! when it rains it pours! I would watch the meter reader come to our home every month. He would cary a couple treats for the dogs. Do his job and be on his way. For about 8 months this went on. Never being a problem. Soon I noticed a new meter reader. An older woman. She would pull into yhe drive. Sit there for a few. Then leave. After noticing she was obviously antimidated by our puppies. I made sire that when she next arrived I was there to meet her. Again she would pull into the drive and sit there. I proceeded outside each time. The only acknowledgement I would recieve was a kurt shake of her head then tail lights at the end of the drive. I noticed my bills were not at all right. I decided to pay extra on them. Because it seemed far to little I was being billed. Two months went by, while trying to great the meter reader. When I recieved another bill. It too blew my mind. Now they wanted $1,200.00 bucks! The reason being the meter was unaccessable. B. S. They underestimated. I knew that. Thus my extra funds going into the account. Yet now the definatly overestimaded! I have been able to get on a payment plan. But its far too much for our family to be able to pay. $230.00 on top of whatever bill we accumulate each month. I am constantly hearing stories from other people, about how much they have had to pay Pacific Power. having no other choice of companies to go through. our entire community is drowning. something needs to be done about this monopoly and now.
