DO NOT JOIN THIS CLUB!

I joined Palmdale Fitness Club approximate a month and a half ago.  One of the selling points was that there was a, "kids club," which provided childcare while you work out, for a minimal fee.  Yesterday, My 11-year-old son was dropped off at about 6pm (this was a Monday).  I noticed that there were an awful lot of children, but I had been asured that they were intollerant of misbehavior and kicked out children who hit others.

My son had already had his hair pulled out on another occasion by a young girl but, again, we were reassured that they do not allow misbehavior, and the employees constantly praised my son, saying how smart and sweet he was. On this occassion, when I picked up my son an hour later, he was completely upset.  Appparently a mob of children started to throw hard plastic objects and toys, metal cars, and other hard items at him.

There were about 50 kids in the room when I picked up my son.  The room was in total disarray. I asked why no one had called me but they were totally unaware that there was any problem.  My son was bruised and, apparently, the "care" providers were oblivious.

He said that he was SCREAMING for help from the back of the room, but none of the adults came to his aid or even to see what was wrong. We immediately reported this to the acting manage, Carlos, and expected that the problem would be corrected and never occur again.  The next day, Carlos announced that there had only been 19 children in the, "Kids Club," and that they don't have any metal or plastic toys in the club, and denied that anything had occurred.  I objected to the false statement and shortly after was told by a man, who described himself as the owner, that I was kicked out of the club.

He said he would give me his name and a card, and that he would give me my money back right away.  He did none of these things and proceeded to launch insults at me.  Apparently, he had instructed others to say that there were only 19 children in the club the night before, as well.

It is really sick that they tried to cover for their negligence by lying, instead of doing the right thing and correcting the problem.  This choice on the part of the owner, management, and employees involved, was at the expense of my child.  No child should have to experience this type of injury and neglect, ever!  The parents who trust that their children are safe there (while paying for the care) are being fooled and I'll bet that this isn't the first time a child has been injured there.  Please let me know of other abuses by posting here on YELP or going to Facebook ([email protected]) or by notifying your local police and Community Care Licensing.

I find it hard to believe the report posted about Palmdale Fitness Club.  I have been going there since it opened and I have had nothing but positive experiences.  I use the kids club for my three kids (ages 7, 4, and 1) and have never had any problems.  Yes, they get many kids but that just goes to show that it is a popular club.  The staff is wonderful, very people friendly something I haven't experienced at any other club.
