PATRICK LAVIN - Steve Cummings - RANDY ADAMS THE ENGINE OF 2002 NISSAN XTERRA HE ASSURED ME IN WRITING BY EMAIL HAD NO PROBLEM, COULD NOT START WHEN TRUCKER CAME TO PICK IT UP, THEN SEIZED UP WHEN BEING DISCHARGED AT JACKSONVILLE PORT, FL. NEEDS ANOTHER ENGINE NOW. NEW BRAUNFELS Texas
I bought a 2002 NISSAN XTERRA from Randy Adams Inc, TX, on the Internet in May this year, for $4500.00. Since I am not in USA to be able to inspect the car physically, I observed the photos closely and, noting some minor dents, asked Mr. Patrick Lavin, the Internet Sales manager, by email, if there were any other issues with the car that I should watch out for when I received the car. His exact reply on May 16 was:
"The X-terra does have the MINOR dents you mentioned but you will have nothing needed on the vehicle in my opinion once it arrives to you!!"
My shipper (SHIPOVERSEAS INC., CA) appointed a trucker in TX to pick up and truck the car to Jacksonville port, from where it will be shipped to Nigeria. The next report I got was that the car could not start when the trucker arrived at Jacksonville. The shipper had it towed to a workshop where it was confirmed that the engine had seized up. When I phoned the dealer about this, Mr. Steve Cummings told me the car had always started while it was with them. He promised to contact the shipper and find out what happened, then report back to me. He never did.
I later notified them of the estimated cost of putting another engine in car to car and asked them why they consealed the fact that the car had engine problem. No reply.
To my shock, the shipper just now sent me a written statement by the trucker, Mr. Gary Butker, which shows that the car actually could not start on its own when he went to pick it up at Randy Rdams Inc.!!! It had to be jump started.
Their exact response today, when I forwarded the written statement of the trucker, is: "We were not aware of the engine problem and will not be able to help.
