After being pressured into giving a deposit with threats of losing my requested pick up date, I knew right away something wasn't right. I had a requested pick up date for a Massachusetts to Florida move of Thursday, June 30, 2005 and was told the movers would call me the day before. Not receiving a call on Wednesday, I called Patriot and was told that I would not have pickup until Friday. Then on Thursday was told pick up would be Saturday. Pick up was Sunday, July 3 at 6:00 p.m., which was 3 days after the requested pick up. Also, I had already driven to Florida and had my father deal with the pick up AND had already paid $550 deposit.

When the movers arrived, they increased my quote from $1480 to $3486 AND asked for $1500 AND a tip of $500 and made my father sign a paper that said he WAS NOT paying for a tip as I didn't leave him enough $$ and had to come up with $1500 that I WAS NEVER TOLD WAS DUE AT PICK UP. I was informed the move would take "5 - 7 days" and that again, the movers would call when they were close.

I have called EVERY day since 7/5 either Patriot or Jacob at Smart Way Moving to inquire as to where my stuff was / is and when will it be delivered and NEVER received phone calls back and the receptionist at Patriot, who is quite unprofessional only says, "Patriot Moving, please hold" and forwards you to voicemail EVERY time you call.

Finally, after several voicemails of begging and pleading for my stuff, the truck arrived July 27 - 24 DAYS LATER. The mattress are no where to be found, they have no idea where they are as well as an Oak desk and one of the televisions is completely and utterly destroyed; there is also damage to the coffee table, bookcase, and several smaller items. The movers would not take monies off the price and made me pay in full in cash or would not unload the truck.

No one will return my calls; I've threatened action with an attorney, Dateline, 20/20. You name it and have yet to receive a call. I am placing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney General's Office, and to anyone who listen before I totally have a nervous breakdown dealing with this stressful, exhausting ordeal. There is much more to this story, however, I will run out of space and tried to keep it short and simple. Someone help!!!!

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!

The AMSA has confirmed that Extra Time Inc, AKA Smart Way Moving, is NOT an AMSA member. They are also NOT BBB members. Both statements on their website are lies. But that's not a huge surprise, after reading this person's account of their move.

Smart Way Moving is really Extra Time, Inc of NYC

The website, smartwaymoving.com, lists a DOT license number of 1320000, which is really for Eztra Time, Inc, of Brooklyn. They've had their license only since March, it was revoked a month later, then after a month of no license, got it back. Another month later, it was revoked again, and was out for ANOTHER month. See a pattern? Your move took place a few days after they got it back. http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/pkg_carrquery.prc_authorityhistory?pv_apcant_id=424345&pv_legal_name=EXTRA^MOVE^INC&pv_pref_docket=MC510842&pv_usdot_no=1320000&pv_vpath=LIVIEW On their website, they claim to be members of both the BBB (who has NO listing for either company name), and the American Moving & Storage Association (waiting on a reply verifying this. The person you REALLY want to get in touch with is the owner: Krii, Yaakov [email protected] 286A 16th Street Suite 1A Brooklyn New York 11215 PHONE: 7183694140 (FAX) 7183694140 When you call the DOT's complaint hotline (888-DOT-SAFT), you'll need the phone, address and DOT number (all available at the FMCSA link above), and as much info as you can give. Patriot will be of no help in this matter, they are Blacklisted themselves for countless times of setting up scam moves. They are also a little busy dealing with a DOT and FBI investigation into business dealings done when they used the name National Moving Network.
