I deeply regret getting conned by Paul Chretien of California Builders. He seemed very nice —at first. For starters, he's NOT an architect contrary to any claims he makes. This guy will take your deposit and RUN. Then he'll ghost you, IF you somehow manage to get him on the phone he'll then claim that there was a death in the family, bla bla bla.
In short, he's very unprofessional and dishonest. He'll dishonestly claim that the deposit for the kit homes are a site inspection and "research" to determine what kind of licensing you'll need to satisfy your county requirements. I've since found that he has a history of conning people.
He was found to be in breach of contract and was instructed to return more than 43 Thousand Dollars in March 27, 2017 in District Court, Morgan County, State of Colorado. The defendant Paul H. Chretien, California Builders inc. and Continental Kit Homes were found guilty of Breach of Contract from a cabin kit purchased from Chretien in 2015.

My mother (and I) were conned or $5,000. Mom responded to a Craigslist Ad offering 400 sq ft prefab kit homes for only $19k. Unbeknownst to me, she called and a person named Paul said he was liquidating his inventory to move to Africa to build homes for the poor. With a $5k deposit, he’d arrange 0% financing which would yield monthly payments of $400 for 18 mos. But, the $5k would have to be CASH or MONEY ORDER— he didn’t trust banks b/c his acct had been hacked. He visited mom and pressured her b/c he was down to his "LAST" kit home— so she needed to act fast. He even drove her to the bank to get the $5k in CASH and had her complete an application for financing. She thought she’d surprise me w/ a man shed/guest cottage for the backyard.
When I realized our joint bank account was short, my mom told me about this kind and wonderful architect named Paul (I was FURIOUS). When I called he did sound VERY nice, he reiterated his religious b.s. and his desire to serve the needy bla bla bla. He also said the kit home would be delivered w/in 10 days or so. Again, he sounded very sincere and nice.
Needless to say, there was no delivery and he wasn’t answering calls or emails. He only answered when I called from a different number, he was supposedly delayed b/c of a death in the family but we’d definitely get the prefab kit home in 10 days. Once again, there was NO delivery and he wasn’t answering, I used a DIFFERENT number again, and when he answered his story changed, suddenly the $5k was for legalities (zoning, county regulations, etc.) and he was awaiting notification from the county. If I wanted a refund, I'd have to get it through the county.
There is NO record of inquiry for our address w/ the county's office. He’s not answering ANYTHING, he’s disappeared, and the cops can’t do anything since mom paid in cash.
Mom said his name was Paul Grayson with California Builders, my online search revealed a company called California Builders and a Paul Chretien who does home remodelling AND sells prefab homes, I thought he was the same Paul— but he’s NOT. In anger, I ERRONEOUSLY posted Paul Chretien's name and the websites associated with his business.
My original review was COMPLETELY wrong. I just found the conman’s business card. His name on the business card is Paul T. Greydon, NOT Paul Chretien and his business name is KALIFORNIA BUILDERZ with a “K” and “Z”. Even the website address is FAKE. I’m so angry.
I cannot see a way to take down my original review to absolve Paul Chretien and his websites, but if I could believe me, I most definitely would! I've NEVER dealt with Paul Chretien and I was sorely mistaken in posting a negative review about him. I supposed I should have waited before posting in anger, but I don’t know what else to do. The worst part is that my mom's now the victim of id theft and credit fraud, surely this must be from the application for 0% APR financing.
